I second simpsons. Some have cracks but there’s often sound ones as well. Check twice a day as good ones often only last a few hours. The time taken is worth it as even their sound good rifles are much cheaper than when they reappear on gunbroker.
Just going to add in.
Optics companies like vortex, Athlon and Arken that have no questions Asked lifetime warranty look pretty good when you compare to some of the older companies.
I know guys who have bought vortex’s knowing they were broken for dirt cheap then sent them in to get fixed.

Funny I didn’t see any rust or “beat” on that rifle he posted. It has a synthetic stock and no iron sights, but other than that a clean and serviceable .375.
The ammo is still coming in. I’ve “heard” but can’t confirm they’re not trying particularly hard on components as the margins are less and slower sellers for ppu.
Their loaded ammo is very reasonable. If you like it I’d get some and shoot for practice then use the cases for reloading
In order of interest:
M77 African
7x57/275 Rigby. I would buy three if it helped get them made.
.318 Westley Richards. I would again buy three.
7x64. I would buy two.
9.3x64 I would buy two.
8x68s. I would buy two.
338-06. I would buy two.
.25-06
7.5x55 Swiss
I’m not particularly...
Hey sir how’s it been?
My main reason for wanting the m77 African is because Ruger for being a “cheap” gun company has always had an eye to classic lines that runs opposite their budget rugged guns.
And amongst higher end guns the African is a great gun for the money. Even at the inflated...
Demand outstrips availability.
Common/widespread guns like Ruger Americans, etc. are always usually less than MSRP. But any type of limited release gun is expensive as heck because 100 people want the 50 guns made.
That also leads to scalping, where someone will buy every one the can...
I wonder what the minimum that would be needed for a custom order? I believe somewhere I saw that the Randys special Orders were often only a hundred guns, but he is an exception and most it is in the neighborhood of 200.
The biggest problem is as much as we all have in common, we're a...
I’m sure it is for the straight wall statuses. I’m just thinking they couldn’t have made a ton of them.
Which gives me hope maybe they’ll do a run in other calibers. Also better sights!
I debated a .270 in their current line but I’m very .270 heavy already.
Randy’s Hunting Center Exclusive Ruger African
Now they are making one besides the Lipseys special editions. Last year Shooting South had .300 win mags (threaded barrels) made so maybe we’ll see this happening a bit more.
.450 bushmaster seems a bit odd to me.
I definately like the...
Number one is my Ruger 96/22. Basically a lever action 10/22. I have no idea but easily in excess of 50k gophers. I’m being VERY conservative as I’ve had it almost 20 years and until I was 20 it was a minimum two cases of 22ammo a year.
Second would be my TC Compass .204. Ranch gun...
Honestly a sleek rifle like that I think you’re on the right track with a .22 hornet. .405 would also be a good choice as it’s unique for a unique gun.
My opinion leave the .45-70 to the classic 45-70 guns.
.30-06s are hard sellers. If this was a .275 it would be gone in an instant. AH membership is much like myself, light calibers then jump straight over .30s to .375 and up. To some degree.
It’s as good as any other round. I got one just because a threaded barrel model was cheap and it was slow enough to suppress well.
A lot of the hate comes from the new knowitalls who think they invented long range shooting with it.
I’ve had good luck with what I’ve shot with mine. Most of...
Nice gun.
Have nothing useful to say. Mainly posting so you get another useless message notification. Part of the charm of the few remaining forums is the ability for discussion.
You’ll like it. I love my 602. Manages to snag it for $950 last fall. Still no clue why it was so cheap other than it was marketed as a ZZK instead of a ZKK so maybe it missed some of the searches.
Mine holds 6 down though I usually load just 5. Pussycat to shoot being so heavy.
I...
Tango: did they ever import any of the TXRG in 6.5x55?
I looked and watched everywhere and saw most calibers show up but never any of that. I’d loves to stash away a bunch of the new stuff whenever it arrives. I’m a big fan of the SPCE as well and so this should be great.
Hey thanks for the suggestion. I’m in upper NE Montana but even then I would consider it. Iron sights seem be this mystical beast that no “gunsmith” wants to touch. Thread it in and tap the end of the barrel but don’t want to fit and solder.
Problem with rebarreling a M77 or ZKK in another caliber is that will put it over $2,000, which means I may as well buy one in said caliber. Not to mention finding a gunsmith willing or able to install sights and a banded sling mount is dang hard.
I was bidding on that ZKK with the popup...
Located in Montana. Looking for a 7x57/.275 Rigby. Looking at around $2k ish budget. Don’t want or need a museum piece or exquisite wood. Willing to go more for the right gun or less for the right gun.
For plus or minus cash trade I have an unfired Ruger #1 .300 H&H.
So what...
Nice rifle. The savage 23 series would be a beauty of a rimfire to pair with it. Love mine. In search of one in .22 hornet at the moment. Seen a couple with beautiful stocks as well.
One of the things I liked about John Wayne is he really wasn’t much of an actor. He played himself.
Though I’m not a weatherby fan either I have respect for the role they played in the golden age of post ww2 hunting culture.
Some harder to find ammo I will pick up if it’s a decent deal. I like oddball stuff and if you want it, often it is super expensive IF…..you can even find it.
I just picked up some 400/350 nitro express and .240 rimless Magnum Kynoch ammo.
I didn’t need it but I figured someone on...
I have not shot the .300 H&H, it is unfired. That’s why I was wrestling with shooting it since even without a box it is somewhat collectible.
And realistically I don’t think it would unseat my Winchester pre-64 .300 H&H from my cabinet as it does 3 shot groups I can cover with a quarter.
I buy at any time there is a deal. Sometimes it is a store closeout, a guy dispersing his stuff and wanting a quick sale. Sometimes it is a really good load that isn’t cheap but……it works so well you keep buying it.
I never have a cap of “enough”. I try to have a minimum of 200 rounds of...
To clarify: The .458 is a Winchester Magnum. I apologize for not mentioning it earlier. The barrel marking was clear and it was made in 1976. The .458 lott wasn't made in the Number 1 until 2002 so I hadn't thought to clarify. Again, I apologize for the mis-communications.
Located in Montana. Only posted here. Willing to email, phone call etc any way to make someone comfortable with purchasing, I have done multiple deals with members on here.
Guns will ship USPS priority with insurance. Prices are shipped in lower 48.
Have two Ruger Number ones.

If it comes with the rings shown in the picture those are Talley rings.
No big deal just wanted to point out that Talleys are worth about double what Warne Rings are making this a good buy.
The 1.75” mini shells would be good for her. Mine feeds them without modification needed.
Low recoil 2.75” shells should be ok too.
I recommend wrapping the grip in tennis wrap. It absorbs a ton of recoil and keeps it from slipping in the hand.
One approach: I’ve had good luck WTB ads where:
Anyone with something I am looking to buy must publicly post in my topic what they have and price. Our personal contacts can be made privately but they MUST publicly say what they are selling.
Haven’t found a scammer yet willing to do that
I started another thread because I was blind and didn't see this one!
I’m wrestling on whether to get one or not. I am a big .270 fan however I’m not sure I want an African in it.
Honestly I always had thought the African series to be steeped in foreign hunting heritage. .275 Rigby. Then...
I see Ruger and Lipseys decided on the .270 WCF for this years African.

I’ve used a .338 win mag model
70. Also used a .300 win mag model 70. Both were solid stops.
Right now if I was to go elk hunting I’d take my Custom 798 in .375 H&H.
That was my dad’s elk round for years. He’s killed a bunch with his Interarms MarkX 375. Lots of punch to anchor...
