Brown stocks are my favorite synthetic. They were one of the pioneers in synthetics, and got it right. As a rule I dont care for synthetic stocks, but I have a 280 AI I built for sheep hunting in a Brown kevlar Pound'r, it handles wonderfully. What does this rifle weigh ?

In my experience a .35 Whelen shooting 250 grain at 2500+ has more recoil AND terminal performance than a 300 whatever with 180s.

I prefer the earlier production that have the unbroken checkering on forearm of stock. The later ones have a dividing line through the checkering on each side of the wraparound pattern. Look at pics of them, you will see what I mean.

Leupold makes two styles of QD rings and bases, one is essentially the same as Warne's and the other has the small round studs on rings with levers on bases. I have the latter style on a third .375, and the jury is still out on those. They definitely do not seem as robust as the Warne style.
