    Allure of the Ruger No1

I have a 30-06 B model. It is one of my favorites. Very light and a beautiful rifle. Regarding accuracy, you will probably not reach that of a similar bolt gun. My shoots around an inch at 100 yds after a lot of load work and semi-floating the forearm with a rubber washer on the hanger.

USA: First Turkey - A Brief, Central Oregon Hunt Report

IMO turkeys have places that they like to roost and will return to that area unless they are bothered with or the feed changes. That said gobblers later in the season may roam and not roost in the same areas as they are seeking hens that are not setting yet. They can be here today and gone...

    What did you reload today?

I use those plastic shoe boxes for mine when I spray them. I threw away my lube pad long ago. if you properly use wax on some of those precision rifle cases when sizing you really don't have to wipe it off.

    Just got my swaro z5+

I have the Z5 2.4-12x50 mm on my M70 featherweight in 308 and love it. Crystal clear and transmits light really well. Helped me out immensely on my whitetail buck I got the other day right after shooting light. I have not looked through any Leupold scopes to directly compare however.

Best double rifle for the money $$

I currently have a Krieghoff Classic Big Five in 450/400 3". It has upgraded wood, and is engraved with a lion and an elephant. I always wanted a double rifle and this one was pretty and in a good calibre so it came home with me. The calibre is relatively easy to shoot as I also have a Rigby in...

What trophy are you most proud of?

I have two what I consider trophy deer. An elderly gent of a hill country 10pt with mule deer forks scored 126 b&c and a 4.5 YO typical 12 off our place down south that scored 142 with a hair less than 13 inch spread. I like tall, narrow, mass, tine length and dark horns. Those tow deer are...

    Sights for Dangerous Game rifles?

I had a .458 that I played with for years. I had a 1-3 Weaver mounted on that rifle, as well as several others. Those scopes will take a beating. Set on 1 they are quicker than iron sights, once you are "practiced up". We have even better low power scopes available now. A "whiplash injury", took...

    What's your one favorite caliber?

Mine would be the 220 Swift. Good from gophers through thin skinned large game. With a 60 grn. Nosler partition bullet, it’s actually quite amazing on Deer sized animals. One of the flattest shooting cartridges ever developed. If we have to throw a rimfire in, it would be the 17M2. Amazing...
