We didn't have a scale so, to be honest, I am not sure. He scored 209 7/8.

Only started getting trailcam pics of him this year. The weird thing is all his trailcam pics were daylight pics. No night pics.

I will say when I took him to the taxidermist today, quite the crowd gathered around. Employees and patrons alike wanted to see it and put their hands on him.

    Wounded animals Survey

I shot my Silver SCI Blue Wildebeest from 148 yards away. As soon as I pulled the trigger, he dropped in his tracks. However my PH said I had hit him and high and spined him. Sure enough he started thrashing about, trying to get up. We closed to about 120. I fired a 2nd shot. This time the shot...

Anyone had a ph tell you to shoot the wrong animal or wrong shot?

I had a PH tell me to shoot the wrong Golden Wildebeest. We came upon a herd of 8-10 bulls. One was remarkably bigger than the others. They all went behind a copse of trees. Every once in awhile 1 or 2 would venture out from the tree, go back in, etc. Eventually one stepped out and my PH said...

I got a Tattoo of my Kudu

I just got it yesterday, so the redness will go away with time. I will do a 2nd sitting where they will put some background in (a Mopani tree, a spear, and the continent of Africa). The first sitting was just the animal. I think it turned out really good.

Importing to US as a Collector

Well.., you added the key part. He applied for and was granted an importer license. My original point still stands correct- a C&R license does not allow you to import. An importer’s license does. So your question is better asked to someone that has an importers license and not a C&R license.

Importing to US as a Collector

I am a C&R license holder. Curio and Relic license holders are NOT allowed to directly import weapons into the United States. You would need to comply with ATF guidelines and have a licensed importer import the weapon. Then, once it is in the United States, you may acquire it.

Winchester Model 94 Pre 1964 30-30 Collector Quality

My hope is to make this a deer rifle but I do not want to drill any new holes in it for a scope. I'm hoping to find some kind of side mount for a scope using the existing holes (?)

    Left eye dominant dilemma

I am right handed and left eye dominant as well. If you use a scope, that totally takes eye dominance out of play. I shoot all my scoped rifles right handed using my right eye. My unscoped shotguns are a different story entirely...

    Do I Really Need Binoculars?

I haven't used them on animals I've shot. I have used them on animals I didn't shoot. Giraffes, hippos, anything I want to get a good look at. Plus we went to a Park (Pilannesburg) and I used them all day there.

NAMIBIA: First African Hunt — “Once In A Lifetime Waterbuck?”

My PH told me the same about my Red Hartebeest. A Red Hartebeest was not on my list. When we saw it, my PH told me that if I didn't shoot it, he was going to shoot it and have it done up for the lodge. I decided to take it. It measured out as an SCI Gold and a Rowland Ward- so I don't think they...

Many cheap hunts vs only one very expensive premium hunt in a lifetime

I'll take more inexpensive hunts. Each trip is a journey and a different experience. I would rather see the Dark Continent more than once and have as many experiences as I can.

    NAMIBIA: First Safari Lessons Learned

June 2024 - in the Limpopo. My PH and I were hunting for a Golden Wildebeest. We came across a herd of probably 8-10 bulls. They were all milling about interweaving with each other and occasionally going behind a copse of trees. There was one magnificent bull. That bull, and a couple others...

    NAMIBIA: First Safari Lessons Learned

First off - that Gemsbok is AWESOME. Secondly - I would have been mad about the cow wildebeest. Thirdly - I think after day 2 I would have been telling my outfitter I wanted a different PH. I am retired ICE. When I went to Africa last June, I knew I would most likely not be able to return. If I...

Are there benefits to using a suppressor for plains game hunting

I used a .308 suppressed on all my Plains Game hunts. I like the suppressor as it really allows me to hear the thud of the shot hit so I have confirmation that the animal was hit.
