Death in the Long Grass seems to be a classic that's always mentioned. I don't like to read but that one I loved every bit of it. A friend that knows nothing about Africa bought it for me semi as a joke but joke was on him.
My next is either the first edition of Horn of the Hunter (No cover so...
No doubt. I handgun hunt so I apparently like making things difficult for myself. Also a gun dork and put too much pressure on making perfect shots. On my first trip last year, I was 140 yards. I flipped my table in my head and aimed and inch or 2 high on a springbok after about a 30 minute...
That's really cool. I wish I had some family on the trip. I know I drove him crazy with the thousand questions I must have asked him. I may have some that are record book eligible, waiting to hear back from them for the rough measurements, but a gold Blesbok, that's fantastic! Heck of a first...
I hope to do more outside of hunting next time I go. I think she would do this same thing again if she got the chance. 8 days was enough, especially for a first time but I would do 10 next time just to do some of this and also "general hunt". Just roam and see what small animals show up
Also, the places we stayed were all comfortable. We did not want luxury, but we really felt the experience of being in Africa. We never went without and at its worst, the food was good. I loved sampling everything that we shot also.
My wife and I are not big travelers but I got the bug and decided to make it happen. We were there last week of August through the first week of September. Hunted 8 days with Somerby Safari's led by my PH, Brendan. We met Somerby at the SCI show earlier this year and we, and more importantly, my...
Thanks for sharing and congratulations on a great trip. Did y'all have any other activities while there? I'm hoping to bring a few non-hunters with us over there and open to suggestions.
I'm looking further but best I can figure out is do the 1140-0010 (5320.20?) form for interstate transport. Once you put the location of the outfitter, send to ATF and they send to state department to fill in the license number and then sent back to you, maybe sent to ATF first. I have a guy...
I may be going out on a limb here but I think I have it figured out.
I am planning to go to SA next year for a handgun hunt. I will have 2 contenders, one with a suppressor and my wife will have a revolver and a bolt action rifle. Because the handguns don't take up much space, I want to put...
How'd it go?? I hope to hunt with Jonathan next year.
Was there an extra step for bringing the suppressor? From what I can tell, it's just a form 1140-0010
Ohh ok. Even better. Thanks for the response. Is that for commercial purposes then like mentioned above?
What did you put for reason? I guess "temporary export/import" is sufficient.
