Congrats on an amazing trip! Great write up and fantastic pics of outstanding trophies. Can’t wait to read the best part of the hunt soon. That buffalo is awesome! Please keep us informed on the status of your wife’s write up for the Rigby Award Contest. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Congrats for sure! I completely agree with @BRICKBURN on how special it had to be to hunt over such a large and varied terrain. Add in the environmental experience with the rains, drought, greens, etc and you had quite the adventure. Exactly what one dreams of when thinking of Africa. Thanks for...
Congrats are due for sure!! You sure held in there until the very end, and it paid off. I admire your dedication. A week+ of very few animals spotted, plus dogs/lions. I was frustrated for you just reading it. Sure glad you made up for it the last few days.
Update- Christmas in July ended up being Christmas in August. No matter, mounts are finally home. Nothing is as easy as we want. After what seemed an eternity, our mounts were delivered to Coppersmiths in Chicago last week. I received and paid the invoice last Friday and picked up the crate...
Best of luck!! Enjoy every minute!! Can’t wait for the report and pics. Your enthusiasm is very evident in your writing. That will make the report all the better.
What an adventure!! Congrats on the animals taken. An experience neither of you will forget. The hippo simply amazes me. I cannot imagine being up close to one. What an animal. Great pics!
Wow! 11yr’s old and four safaris under his belt!! That’s spectacular. Congrats dad for taking your son along with you. Memories you both will cherish forever.
Good info. That’s ridiculous they feel they must rework what has already been done. Everyone wants to get their share of the pie I guess. Just sad that everyone else determines just how big of a pie you need. Anyway, it’s exciting you are about to get your stuff.
Update- I talked to Laura at Coppersmith’s in Chicago on Monday (she has been great to work with). Seems our crate has fully cleared F&W as well as Customs in Houston. They are waiting for another crate to clear as well and plan to ship a total of 6 crates (all different owners) to Chicago later...
Congratulations on a second very successful hunt. Your words really hit home. I also found the RSA farming/ranching community amazing. Felt like home yet completely different and with such exotic animals not found here. I found it to be perfect. No two days were the same. A simple matter of...
That is all good to know. Thank you for sharing. I am sure this is nothing new for many members. However, for the less experienced it is quite nerve wracking after reading of some horror stories about shipping and expensive storage. I imagine it will become less stressful as we gain experience...
Wow!! Congrats Green Chile on a buff that will be the basis for stories told over and over - “let me tell you about the buff of mythical proportions that broke the trailer”.
Thanks for sharing. It will be interesting to see what the final Coppersmith charges will be. I just found out today that our mounts were shipped to the coppersmith’s Houston office instead of Chicago. They arrived last Friday. They will be cleared there and then shipped to Chicago. Luckily, Rex...
Congrats Mark!! Africa has obviously gotten under your skin. 6 trips!! Fantastic!! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Hope the giraffe injury heals nicely.
Congratulations all around. What a great hunt. Great pics also. Absolutely love the stunning sunrise/sunsets and the wife/warthog pose is priceless. Looks like you guys really enjoyed every minute. That’s what it is all about. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations again on such a wonderful safari with your family. So many lifelong memories made. Have you all made plans for another trip in the future?
It’s amazing how the people, culture, plentiful animals, amazing scenery, great food, bountiful opportunities, etc can get under your skin...
Congrats on such a great bull as well as the others. Wow, I just can’t get over the size of one. They must be jaw dropping in person right next to it. Memories for life.
Congrats on such a good start. Sure is great the whole family was able to go and enjoy together. What a way to spend an anniversary. Happy belated anniversary! Can’t wait for more of the story. Sure hope there’s better news on the warthogs later.
Awesome start for any safari, let alone your first. Congrats on the Blue and the Zebra. Both beautiful animals. Can’t wait for more. Thanks for taking the time to share your adventure.
@Hyde Hunter , thank you for the info. That would be great. I’m hoping the same goes for our shipment. It’s crazy all of the fees already. But, at the same time, if everyone broke down their charges to the degree we see here, it would probably scare us every time we bought anything.
I honestly do not remember the name. I can tell you that it was a working pineapple farm, along with some cattle. The gentleman was in his 30’s with two young children. Super super nice people. The kids really enjoyed getting involved with the animals.
Yes, my son and I are going back, along with taking my parents while they can still do such a trip. Plan is less hunting and more sightseeing than in 2023.
Well, the long-awaited time has come, Christmas in July is here! Our mounts are done, have been shipped, and arrived this morning in ATL. My son and I had a total of 7 shoulder mounts, 3 euros, and 4 hides finished. These were from our June 2023 hunt with Kubusi Safaris (hunt report posted...
Finally got around to finishing your story. Congratulations on such a wonderful trip and so many amazing animals, so many memories! Thank you for sharing with us.
