    Blaser R8 - 458 WM or 458 Lott

As I said, if you like the Lott, I won't fault you. People like what they like and the lott does let you choose between lott loads and WM loads, if that is an issue for you in some far flung place. I am unaware of a WM bullet that needs more velocity than the WM allows for it be accurate, but I...

    Blaser R8 - 458 WM or 458 Lott

To add to that, a 45 Colt/280/1100 will go through everything. What does a Lott do that a WM cannot?

    Ultra Light Arms 24 - 30-06 - advice needed

I have a ULA in 350RM and like it, but I don't consider it to be a very high quality rifle overall. There are pluses and minuses to each, but overall, my WC NULA is a better rifle. Get one in 308 and it will do whatever the 243 and 30-06 will do in a single rifle. Just an idea, obviously the...

    2.5 x 8 or 2x7 leopould scopes?

I like and miss the 2-7's as well as the 1.75-6 and the fixed 2.5 and 4x and 6x. None were as good as the 2.5-8, though I liked the form factor of some of them. Since the 2.5-8 has always been the highest performing scope of its kind (from Leupold), it probably doesn't make sense for them to...

    Blaser R8 - 458 WM or 458 Lott

I have had both but only have the 458WM now. I don't feel a difference in recoil from WM to Lott, but I also don't feel the difference between 400g and 500 g loads in my WM, so YMMV. I prefer the WM because it gives me all the power I need and my WM cases don't stretch terribly as they did when...

    458 Win Mag

Too much weight for me. I have a fixed 2.5 on one 458 and a variety of other scopes on another (Blaser). I do not like RDS on those guns, but that's me. I run an RDS pistol everyday and on M4's for 30 years. Just not on my bolt guns.

1 of 45 pistols ever built, if you are a 1911 fan, this is a hard one to come by. KGB Customs did a video on it which you can find on Youtube if you like. This copy is BNIB, unfired and never loaded. Slide has been cycled and trigger pulled a very few times. Original protective oil is on the...

Why do you like the Ruger safety? It is about impossible to use correctly, meaning safety moves from on safe to fire while mounting the gun, shot breaks as soon as the mount is finished. It rotates too far to the rear while on safe, where the M70 moves more forward and back. The gen2 I referred...

    Pics of your .458WM's

I have never warmed up to the poorly designed 3 position safety the Rugers have, which is why I only have one of them. The new gen 2's are not nearly as nice, but the safety is a much better design. Your bolt guns shown look really nice, and mine does shoot very well. I just wish they had...

I like many Rugers, but quality is not what they are today, and it is only getting worse. If Beretta ends up owning them, maybe things will improve. That is neither here nor there for this thread, nor for older Rugers, which can be very high quality or very low quality, like most other brands.

Too thin for my tastes. My Selous barrel is .875 at the forend and at the muzzle, not counting the barrel band front sight. 23" long or so. My Mauser is .825 at the muzzle, not counting the barrel band front sight. 21" or so. I think thicker would be better.

    Pics of your .458WM's

So, I have a CZ 550 magnum action just sitting around. I am tempted to build it up and am thinking about a short heavy barrel. What is the heaviest contour that makes sense for the gun, without trying to be silly? My R8 Selous barrel is quite nice and I would want it to be that thick or...

Thinking About Buying A Vintage Shotgun? Read This First

Not to call you out at all, but have you cleaned and lubed the gun since getting it? I find that makes a huge difference in ease off opening and closing. Ofcourse, a stiff action is a stiff action and you have probably already done that. I'm also shooting clays with my 12g SxS, a 11/8 oz of...
