I like many Rugers, but quality is not what they are today, and it is only getting worse. If Beretta ends up owning them, maybe things will improve. That is neither here nor there for this thread, nor for older Rugers, which can be very high quality or very low quality, like most other brands.

I ordered an M70 direct from Winchester about 5 years ago, and they basically forgot about it. One of these days I will get one.

I would use it as is. Wood stocks can be nicer handling and shooting than synthetic, and those old Brownings are widely regarded as well stocked.
