Book Review
By Kevin Thomas – (author of 4 African hunting books including Shadows in an African Twilight.)
Drums of the Morning, by respected and highly experienced Zimbabwean professional hunter Wayne Grant, is a must read. In fact, I would go so far as to say that any sport hunter...
The 7x57mm Mauser has always been my all time favourite for most of Africa's plains game, and here I mean when hunting in true mopane and acacia woodland. It isn't ideal for wide open plains where you're shooting over greater distances. For those hunting conditions I'd opt for a .300 Winch...
Due to a series of Amazon upload glitches over book template sizes, and related issues, it’s taken me months to finally sort out and upload my latest edition of The Hunting Game.
This is the second run which has an additional chapter portraying the life of legendary Rhodesian ivory hunter...
I'm a bit late with this response, however, I've been otherwise distracted of recent. Getting old and the health issues that go with it isn't for sissies! Important though is that you got to hunt a buffalo on the BVC, and I certainly hope the hunt lived up to all your expectations. And yes...
Thanks very much for the positive feedback/review on my latest book There's Something About Buffalo, I really appreciate your constructive critique. Reference the title though, I'd rather stay with the current title than have titled it 'Hunting Buffalo For Dummies' - a title like that may have...
Thanks for the positive review and kind words, I really do appreciate your post but more importantly, I'm glad you finally got your book and enjoyed the read!
Thanks for the comment and I'm sure you'll enjoy the read. Thus far it's had extremely favourable comments and SA Magnum magazine will have a full-page review in their November publication. This is the second edition with an additional chapter on the legendary Rhodesian (Zimbabwe) 1930s elephant...
If he was in C Squadron Rhodesian SAS he's got to be a good man! After Rhodesian independence they dropped the C Squadron and just became Rhodesian SAS.
It's a pleasure, and thanks for the great comment, I'm glad you enjoyed 'There's Something About Buffalo' - if you have a spare moment, I'd really appreciate a brief review on this site. Marketing hunting books in this day and age, with its global growing groundswell of anti-hunting sentiment...
I'm sure you'll enjoy it - South Africa's Magnum magazine has an excellent full page review for their November issue, which I was given an opportunity to peruse in case personal corrections were needed.
The .375 H&H is a neat and proven calibre, and BRNO are also well proven and hardy in the field. Back in the early 1980s I used a BRNO in .458 Winchester and I liked it a lot.
Hi Phil - Thanks for the positive feedback on my book, and I'm glad you enjoyed the read! Right from the start I'd intended my books to be what I've always termed, 'light safari campfire reading'. If I can deliver on that I'm a contented author!
I will be giving away Two signed and inscribed copies of my book The Hunting Game, including shipping to fellow members of AfricaHunting.com. This is a new updated edition with an additional chapter (Chapter 25). If you are not already a registered member you can join by clicking here.

If you ordered a copy it would've been signed because the limited stock I hold are all packaged and mailed by me personally, and I sign each copy before mailing. Enjoy the read.
Nengo is an awesome camp, not too big and great for 1 or 2 hunters. It is in a lovely setting facing north towards Towla mountain, a BVC landmark and the highest feature on the conservancy. There's a small stream in front of the camp that is seasonal and game constantly comes and goes. You'll...
Thanks for the positive comment, I'm sure you'll enjoy the read. Yesterday I got feedback from someone who bought a copy and they were more than satisfied with the content.
