Spot on Bob, I see people at the range with big powerful scopes on hunting rifles so they can see bullet holes with out a spotting scope at 100 meters +& try to hunt with the same scope only to screw up shots at game in the field.

I would pull it apart resize with decaping pin removed from die to save primers & reuse bullets & powder reduce powder charge & go from there.

On a recent deer hunt with my eldest son i shot over a deer i found that the Leopold 3x9 with a CDS turret with no lock had wound up to max by pulling the rifle over the 4x4 seat in a hurry. No more wind up scopes for me.

Hornady 130 grain CX better than 3 shot 1 MOA in my rifle & drops big wild pigs on the spot with a well placed shot. I have never recovered a bullet yet as all have executed at ranges up to 240 meters.

You could use a heat sink & heat blocking putty like they use when welding or bending bolt handles, a lazer welder does not use much heat.

Get a welder to TIG or lazer weld it up & grind it to dimensions

I use a Speer 170 grain hot core in mine they are priced well 3 shot 1 inch groups & do a job on pigs.

I have on old 2015 model & love it it gets lots of use, also have a Redding, Lyman, Simplex an Australian copy of RCBS rockchuker & a new MEC meltalic press , the LEE is as good as any. I do not use any of the quick die change systems i think they are unnecessary .

The old 308 Norma is a belted case that head spaces off the belt , just fire them as normal hunting ammo & they will blow the shoulder foreword & adjust the sizing die to not set the shoulder back when reloading them, you will achieve little by blowing the shoulder foreword with reduced loads.
