Try and convince me the 243 is actually useful

I own 3 6mm rifles a 6mm ARC a 243 Ackley improved & a 240 Weatherby used with 100 grain bullets the 243 AI & the 240 WM will kill any medium game, easy to shoot low recoil, the 6MM ARC is an outstanding varmint rifle with 70 to 80 grain bullets. For big pigs i mostly use a bigger caliber rifle.

    I blame Bob N 35 whelen

just a bit of advice, change out the front screw to a 1/4 x7/8 unf button head allen key cap screw, it makes the tightening of it to 60 inch pounds much easier than the slotted head screw.

270 Win. enough on big tuskers?

I have shot 100s of Australian wild pigs mostly in open plains country with ranges 50 to 300 meters with my 270 Win . But rereading your post i think you may be better equipped with a 9.3x62 not a 300 Win mag for the pig hunting you describe.
