Welcome to AH, RLD. I'm not Canadian but my first girlfriend was from the St. Catherines, ON area. Not that it counts or anything.
Seriously, this is a great place to ask questions and get good answers for anything Africa hunting related.
Exactly! It is a matter of priorities.
My now paid off Ford Ranger was my very first ever new car/truck. Its predecessor was a Honda Pilot bought used in 2005 and sold in 2021 with over 315,000 miles on it.
I would add on reflection to read the book The Millionaire Next Door.
I *was* a financial advisor for 25 years and held the CFP certification. I also taught it at our local state university for 10 years. As to how I afford it, my wife and I live frugally and I saved like a mad man before I retired.
I actually don't mind Houston. I worked for a Houston based company for 25 years so that may play into it. The biggest problem with Houston is it is so spread out!

I found a really nice one built using a 1917 Enfield. Price is good but I am having a hard time getting beyond the price of ammo. That and I have a .308 Norma Mag.
When I went to the Eastern Cape last year, I brought and used my A-Bolt in .280 AI for everything but one animal. It performed admirably.
It was an older model with the BOSS system. I did take off the muzzle break in favor of the BOSS-CR .
Haven't been visited by the ATF yet! However, I will be writing checks to the IRS so taxation is theft and if I don't pay, they will send their enforcers like the mafia.
I don't have a specific gin as I tend to collect gins as I travel. I have 5 or so from South Africa and then a lot from around the US. One gin that I can't get anymore that I really liked was Bombay Sapphire East which had peppercorns in it. Gave the G&T just a bit of a bite.
My recipe is...
