I don’t know if shortened LOP and new finish qualifies as custom, but this is a Pre-‘64 in .243 Winchester that I got for my Mom. She’s 76 and wants to go hunting. She walks with a cane, but we found a place to hunt where she will be driven to the blind. The scope is a Swarovski 8x56. To me, it...
I’ll take it. I always pay for guns with a Postal Money Order sent by Priority Mail, but Saturday is the only day I can get to the post office. (I work in construction). If that’s cool, I would definitely give this rifle a good home.
I hope the moderators are ok with this ad aimed at one poster. I don’t like “back room deals”, so my offer is here in front of everyone.
I can part with 50 unfired Winchester cases. Zip-lock seal was damaged, so I opened the bag to make sure all 50 pieces are there. Will sell for $90 delivered...
I’ve got some big Weatherby brass, not all with 338-378 headstamp. I’ll see how much I have. How much are you looking for? I bought a bunch of it years ago at great prices. I’m not looking make a fortune on it. If you have an old action, a trade would be great (Mauser; 1910 Mexican, 1909...
I have an offer to trade for a shortened stock. I plan to do that. It’s already modified, so no harm if it needs to be shortened a tiny bit more. I do plan to look for an aftermarket stock, though. She likes the Maple that’s on her Mauser, so I may go that route. It will be up to Mom. The pics...
We’re still waiting for her custom Mauser in 6x47 Lapua to be finished. After 2 1/2 years, she’s tired of waiting. I just made a deal for this 1955 Model 70 in .243 Winchester. The LOP will be shortened because she is 4’ 11” tall. I may look for aftermarket bottom metal. It will get a Swarovski...
It really is a small world. I saw this rifle for sale at **NOT**PERMITTED**. It sounded familiar, and how many 1917 Enfields in 358 Norma Magnum could there be? I googled it and found an ad about two years old for the same rifle. When I got it, I took off the scope mounts and saw that it’s a...
How did this photo get in here? I own this rifle. It’s a Remington Model 30 Express in .358 Norma Magnum. It was built by Mark Chanlynn in the late 1970s, with one of his barrels. Not trying to be confrontational or complaining, just curious.
Thank you, Mark.
I copied your info. I plan to send payment through the mail on Saturday.
I think a moderator will delete your personal info from your post.
Modified vs factory 1909 Argentine
I hope this hasn’t been too nerdy for you. I’m just fascinated by this, and determined to work up a load for it. The barrel is.288” instead of the modern .284. I contacted Hammer Bullets to ask about custom machined solid copper bullets. Not a problem. I need...
More nerdiness
The barrel has been set back and rechambered. Originally 280-300-CCC (.280/300H&H/front ignition). Notice old locations for Unertl scope blocks.
Original chamber marking
Massaged action compared to DWM 1909 Argentine
And the Handloader magazine has no photos and just has a few sentences about it. It says the rifle was experimental and not successful due to the powders available at the time.
I don’t have photos of the whole rifle. I keep getting home when it’s to dark to get a decent photo outside. I did get...
I contacted Simpson LTD. The price to ship is more than what I paid for the rifle. It was an impractical idea. It’s a cool old rifle. I’m sure he would love to have it, but I also don’t want him to feel like he owes me.
And leave it there. It’s a gift for a friend there. That’s the plan, anyway. Can someone point me in the right direction to get this in motion? There is no rush. At all I was thinking of calling it a Christmas gift.
Thanks. Lee
