It will be hard to beat the durability of your aluminum case. I have used one for over 20 years and other than a few scratches it's still like new. I looked into lighter cases but to save a little in weight you will be giving up durability and there isn't that much difference in weight.
I am 0 for 2 on leopard mostly because I wasn't hunting prime areas. When I get serious about leopard again I will go with Johnny DuPlooy. I hunted buffalo with him in 2021 and saw three daytime leopard.I had one sit under a hyena bait for an hour. Zambia is pricier than some of the others but...
I would not as I consider it hunting and what you find is what you get be it a world record or just a decent trophy or go home without anything. I would like to hunt Europe but this is what turns me against it.
I think some of the biggest changes since my first safari in 2006 are cell phone towers are available in more remote places. I haven't been in a solar powered camp yet.The first camp I was in was on the grid the rest were generator powered.I think the biggest changes is the price of the big five...
I've been to Zim twice and Zambia once.Planning on number four for elephant in 26 just haven't decided where or who with yet as I'm looking for the best deal for my money (not the cheapest hunt).
I'm not sure what the cost would be but it could be sent to Park west and rebarreled and put the quarter rib and front sight back on the new barrel. Also if you had any interest in another caliber it would make a really nice 450 Rigby.
This is my go to Buffalo rifle. Built by Gene Simillion in 416 Remington. It's built on a pre 64 action with a Douglas barrel. It now has a VX6 1x6 Leupold and now has NECG iron sights.
I have Talleys on my 416 but have never had to remove my scope but if I had to follow up a wounded leopard in the dark I sure don't want to do it with a scope.
I received My boyt cartridge belt today and can say I'm truly impressed with it for the price.I think they will fit about anyone as I have a 32" waist and will need to add a bunch of holes and cut off several inches.
I've used a kalispell aluminum double gun case for about 20 years. It has been on several trips to Africa and Alaska also used a lot locally. They are virtually indestructible as mine with all the use just has a few scratches from baggage gorillas and you will not find a better company to deal with.
I'll stick with my 416 Remington 400gr TSX's. It's always worked with one shot so I see no reason for anything bigger on Buffalo. I may use 450 gr woodleighs on elephant or maybe something bigger.
