Ok, I will be the Debbie Downer. Is this just click bait? I see threads that make no real sense, might have written a couple myself. Are these just for a bigger reaction score to move up the named rating system? What sunglasses do you wear, what watch do you wear....you get the idea. Just...
am looking at Turkish Airlines to Addis Ababa and then Ethiopian Airlines in to Vic Falls. If tickets continue I will just cancel the hunt and do something else. I don't have as much money as some on this site and I am not enamored with Africa like most hunters.
OK, this is NOT an Alpha bullet, but it is unique... the Heters Wasp. Would seem to have a similar idea of the banded bullets and pressure reduction?....Interestingm, but did shoot worth a darn.
My Wife thought she needed a house keeper to help out since we both worked. It was working out pretty good until one day I can home and the housekeeper told me she had found a loaded gun in the house, told me how dangerous that was and that she had unloaded it. It was my defense weapon. Fired...
And the man said what do I get for 3k photo.....none of the above. NO waits, no govt fees or forms or bureaucrats..etc. Starting to look better all the time. And your right, your kids do not want them or their spouse don't and they have to live together.
OK, just looked up the 30 R Blaser....it is a beast. So as far as power and range it has it. I has shot the 8mmx68 out of the R84 Ultimate and it was a teeth rattler.
I was actually implying that due to the regulation of convergence and then the effect past that point makes almost any shot beyond that increasingly more difficult, not the caliber. Sorry, should have made that more clear.
The point is the fun factor and how cool it would be. The expense to build a double rifle would make it totally impractical. I sold my marlin 41 mag., just one of the many mistakes I have made. I don't think any double rifle shines at a distance.
I've read and watched this thread. I am beginning to think I want a small bore double rifle. At this very moment it would be in 22 hornet, 218 bee or 219.
Unfortunately, I agree with you. This is far from over on so many levels and fronts. Hell, may not only be coming to Breakfast, but staying for Supper. We truly, have the weapons and mentality to destroy the world as we know it.
The issues in the middle east are certainly a concern, But what about the US govt. shut down? With fewer TSA agents coming to work I would think that the lines will be much longer. Would international travel be suspended due to lack of security? I know, pretty extreme.
Another big red flag is a heavy gold cross hanging outside the shirt for everyone to see. Seen more liars doing this than honest people. This is often seen with sales persons....and that is what an influencer is.
I will continue to reload just because. I am still buying components when available. Now, looking for fresh powder. Mostly, riding the Western/Ramshot wagon for now. Corporations all seem to be buckling under to the liberal financial system. When I die, there will be plenty to divide up.
Well, yes we have Swift A-Frames, when you can get them, or know someone at Swift. I agree they and the Bear Claw are the best. When was the last time a reloader got any Trophy bonded bear claws. If they are not available, the the discussion starts getting irrelevant.
While at the SCI there was an artist that did both paintings and Photos. He would take the photo add paint and "improved the background with native plants" if it looked to barren. Ran about 3K, the photos were about 30x 24 inches I think. I think his name was Cupples??? He said he was going...
I know this is an old thread. But just looking at the Oryx bullet and the constructions...makes me think of the Grand Slam bullet....it was used on thick skinned and big boned game then???
I used to help an outfitter at the conventions who has a very successful hunt. Don't think I can put it up here. He was at the SCI and gave a talk on Canada Wednesday night. Will send you a PM.
I started to reload at 15 because I was taught that it was important to be self sufficient and that was part of being a man. That line of thinking is not as prevalent now. Reloading was cheaper back then. I just never stopped because I liked it, so it became a hobby. Also I have several...
Just like the taxidermy, guns or other things that we collected because it was important to US. Priorities have change more that just a little over the last 20 years and so has the economy, culture and ???? what ever the individual thinks.
I asked my nephews what he wanted to do when he graduated...he said he didn't care as long as it was easy and he made a lot of money. Well, he did it he works for Edward Jones and makes 3-4 times what his girl friend makes and she is making over 400K a year as a physician. Not bad.
True but I remember when federal was the poor man's ammo. The they became big and bigger. They bought out certain bullets and keep them for their own factory ammo and keep them off the reloading scene....grand slam etc. Swift's contracts are severely hindering the reloading market. Now, that...
Got mine at 0935. .410 & .416 400gr Aframes. One of the few reasons I stopped in. Met with a couple of friends. Did not meet any AH members that I knew of…..tried the weird wink several times..,..no one responded but security guards were called twice. Well, I am taking my afternoon nap early...
Shot a Russian brown bear with a 338 federal, not advised. Shot several big black bears with a 308 win and no problems. Like many said the range would be the issue. I did not know that the 450-400 was also AKA 450 NE.
It would seem that us 70s old military guys are just worn out and screwed! I lived a charmed life until 4 years ago. Best of luck to all of you with your hunts.
