375 H&H DGX Performance on Whitetail?

I intentionally hunted all of the previous deer season with my .300win to prep for Zimbabwe incase I got my tuskless early and glad I did. This season I’ll be taking my .375 BRNO and using 270gr Federal blue box SP to build up a base of loading brass. I will be aiming for the front shoulder...

If you’ve gifted knives to your trackers/skinners…

Cigarettes in Zimbabwe are $2 per pack at the local Mola village store, in the city some can be bought for as cheap as $6 per carton so if your gifting cigarettes you might as well buy them there. I skipped the bringing knives and brought a Costco sized box of rice crispy treats and Kirkland...

    New Qatar Weapons Requirements!

Agreed on the assholes, there was a massive collection of them with their ENTIRE family at DFW and each person had a bag the size of a studio apartment. It took over 3 hours just to check in. As for the global entry, I have TSA precheck and it did me absolutely no good.

    New Qatar Weapons Requirements!

If your going through DFW that still may not be enough time; seriously I got there 4 hours early and after check in and security I walked up to the gate as boarding began. If I would have stopped for dinner on the way to the airport I would have missed the flight.

    New Qatar Weapons Requirements!

Because the entire Qatar staff is relying on 1 person who knows what they are doing, so you have 5 people watching one person fill out a form. Neither myself or my hunting travel agent knew anything about this new form until I walked up to the counter. Seriously, the Qatar counter @ DFW was...

    New Qatar Weapons Requirements!

I feel your pain!…. I got to DFW 4 hours before boarding and it took me over 3 hours to check in, it took so long to check in that TSA precheck was closed at the gate. I walked up to the gate just in time to board, seriously my worst airline experience to date.

I did contact Woodleigh and they said I had to go through a dealer; had an OZ dealer ship some over but he no longer ships internationally. So I’m glad to see @RAVEN ROCKS PRECISION taking up the Woodleigh imports.

@JeffUSMC What’s your time worth? Because by the time your done with small claims court or any other legal means of recourse you will wish you had kissed that $1K goodbye…. And that’s assuming you win. I’ve done at least 6 trips to Canada and after my last trip to Ontario I decided that there...

416 Rigby (Big Bore) - To Crimp or Not to Crimp

I’ve been crimping for the last 25 years and see no reason to stop. FYI - you will also listen to PH’s and others talk about (insert random “logic”) is the reason you pull the back trigger on a double first - which is incorrect.

Woodleigh Bullets - Feedback for Production Requested

Well I can personally vouch for the .474 Hydro and would like to see it in stock. This one recovered from an elephant, the tip was found by axe. I use Woodleigh .474 500gr SP & Hydros and get same point of impact with the same load in my .470ne

    Tusks sold at Texas auction

Yep and as mentioned, that’s a lot of grips, handles, ect …. No telling what the “value added” total would be in the secondary finished product for anything from knives to handles for extremely high end ladies hairbrushes that are also a status symbol for certain cultures.

    Tusks sold at Texas auction

Not that hard to figure out.... I've been told that raw ivory in China sells for $800-$1,500 per pound. So for 112lbs of Ivory your looking at a value from $89,600-$168,000.... Purchased for $27,000 There are LOTS of Asian people living in Texas that would have made that purchase all day long...

    Muzzle Control on Safari

I am cautious about this issue when hunting with others, when I'm guiding whitetail hunters I always insist on taping the muzzle of the clients gun so it doesn't get clogged with mud/dirt incase of a stumble or fall..... and I use ORANGE electrical tape for this, so even in the dark I can tell...

    Anyone use PWP Travel?

I used PWP for my first trip to Zimbabwe a couple of weeks ago and I had a few issues that had to be sorted. 25-06 Rem in Africa

Great caliber, I’ve seen them used extensively for whitetail in the USA. The 101gr Barnes LRX bullet at 3,300fps shoots like a laser and hits hard. 120gr Nosler partitions at 3,150fps is extremely effective as well.

    Krieghoff Big 5 - .470 Nitro Express

That’s one classy and versatile rifle sir; Krieghoff cocking safety is really growing on me after seeing Philips in Zimbabwe and that 500/416 with a good red dot and practice could be a 200yd rifle or probably much further on various game. Combine that trajectory with TSX and a premium solid...

@Gert Odendaal I too would suggest CH4D dies - I upgraded my .470ne dies from Hornady to CH4D at the suggestion of Ken Owen who regulated my .470ne and I can honestly say my brass is lasting much longer although I will say that CH4D is a small company and don't be surprised if they take...

With your criteria @towserthemouser I believe the 450/400 is your best bet and will get the most enjoyment out of; having said that I’ve owned my .470ne for a few years now and love it especially since I shot my first elephant with it two weeks ago.
