Honestly you’re guess is as good as mine; I haven’t really dug into it though as I recently became aware of… Germany’s AfD “far right” party is surging in the polls with massive voter turnout reported in Saxony-Anhalt and might be the first far right party to lead a German State since 1945...

    What did you reload today?

75gr semi spitzer with IMR3031 powder, CCI #41 primer(NATO/milspec) and Lake City brass. Excellent in both 10” suppressed 1:8 barrel as well as 16” 1:9 Finally got some live target testing and results were better than expected; I’m not used to a 5.56 hitting with this much authority. Entrance...

Glad to see you making good use of what you have while waiting for the new one; may not be what you wanted but I imagine it’s satisfying nonetheless.

Well said, the cheapest I’ve seen Jamison .470 new brass on gunbroker is higher than what you paid for the loaded ammo.

How is everyone’s winter prep going.

Depends, in Texas there really is no winter prep until just before a blizzard is projected to dump 3” of snow; then the parking lot of every liquor store will be full and firewood will reach insane prices in urban areas. In Southern Oklahoma my elderly relatives just wait for it to freeze...

What would yall consider a “Lifetime worth of ammunition” for a double rifle?

If you don’t want that Jamison brass I’ll buy it once fired from you, it’s what my .470 is regulated with and it’s good quality and no longer produced.

Labor Day Sales - Nosler 223 Rem 70gr RDF - 63¢ Per Round

I’d be willing to bet they stabilize in a 16” 1:9 barrel, I’m currently shooting 75hr Hornady SBR rounds with great affect and would like to try these on pigs.

    Lead levels

Not a concern for me as stated above quick reloads back in the day took preference over heavy metal concerns. The only case of high lead levels I’ve ever know was a couple that did extensive competition handgun shooting and would sort brass on their kitchen table after tumbling. They had an...

30 Cal Sierra Game King report

Agreed, I just finished load development for .300win with 200gr LRX-BT for my travel load, went with the LRX for the faster opening. I also loaded 150rnds of .300win Hornady BTSP Interlocks as they are my deer culling, pig hunting and practice round( I also use the 140gr Interlock in .270win...

    Question about packing ammunition

This! We’ve had several threads and has to be hundreds of posts on the matter, but @SCmackey summed it usually beautifully. “Ammo must be stored in factory packaging OR packaging specifically designed for storing ammunition; loose ammo will not be permitted” - I believe is the verbiage. 11lbs...

30 Cal Sierra Game King report

My disdain for the SGK goes back 20+ years when I started loading my own ammo with 130gr SGK in .270Win. I shot my first and second deer SGKs’ and I haven’t loaded another single Sierra ever since. FYI - the second deer I shot at 150yds and it ran off and died because it fell in a creek and...

    .375H&H 350gr Woodleigh RNSN - Load data?

I’ve got the 350gr RNSN HD going 2,275fps out of my 23” barrel; I could go faster but the accuracy is great and hits exact same POI as the 350gr FMJ. My buddy has the 350gr RNSN HD and North Fork FPS hitting same POI in his Winchester M70 stainless.

Do You Still Gut Your Deer?

I can go either way, when we cull heavy and I have help we’ll gut 6 and let them hang overnight so I can make the back strap as bone in racks that I use to demonstrate how you can eat deer prepared in ways other than fried. If we’re just wanting camp meat there is no reason to gut.

    My thoughts on recoil

The most important part of recoil management is one that I haven't seen a single member post about..... Mental preparation If you go into a fight knowing you are going to get your ass handed to you, then you have brought about your own destiny. I see it all the time with deer "hunters" and...

I don’t know about that, the closest I came to getting scammed on a different notable Texas site, I spoke with the “seller” of a Ruger #1 .458win; he was obviously an older white man and he definitely knew plenty about guns and hunting. Where he screwed up was being too aggressive about selling...

    bringing meat back from greenland

Yes, I’ve brought back moose meat from Ontario and have friends that drive up from Dallas every year and do it. After all the tags and licenses you still have to buy a “moose export permit” for the privilege of taking the meat home, think it’s $40-50 permit.

What would yall consider a “Lifetime worth of ammunition” for a double rifle?

When I bought my .470 I bought 8lbs of powder which is enough for 700+ rounds and I’m more than half way through it. The real issue is component availability, so when you can find it stock up so you have consistent lot numbers and put effort into storing properly.

Finished load development on the .300Win 200gr Barnes LRX-BT “Travel Load” 10 shot Average of 2,885fps. 3 shot group @100yds with tripod adjustable front rest and rear bag, now I just need to order my custom CDS dial. Special thanks to @Mark A Ouellette for suggesting H4831sc powder.
