Still hopeful someone has some first hand experience. Yes the crate will be big but having other critters in there to occupy the space may help to ease the cost. Wonder if anyone has shipped a giraffe, likely a similar sized crate.
I have a croc sitting in SA, about a 13.5 footer. Their cost per foot over there to mount is way cheaper that prices in the US, but curious just how bad shipping would be? Has anyone ever shipped a full mount croc from SA to the US and if so, how scary was the shipping cost?
A few years back i asked myself this same question. Couldn't decide so i ended up with both. I personally prefer the 416, it quickly became one of my favorite rifles. If your not recoil sensitive, i would say go straight to the 416.
Loved my 375 Ruger so much i had to have the 416 ruger also. As others have said, either choice will work just fine. Focus more on how each rifle you look at fits you. You won't be happy with either choice if the rifle doesn't fit you correctly. I personally have not had any problems finding...
Appreciate the feedback. Sounds like i'll be getting another couple 4457's done. Was hopeful there was an easier way but it sounds like thats not the case.
Ok, seeking a bit of clarification here because i seem to get a bit of different information depending on the agency i enquire with. In about 60 days the family is leaving for SA. Because there are 8 of us, i am planning to bring 3 rifles. I have a single 4457 with all 3 rifles listed and in my...
After 2 safari's with the bushbuck at the top of the list it still remains there. Hopefully my 2024 hunt gets that monkey off my back.
On my last trip i was lucky enough to harvest a great serval and am now fascinated with the small cats. Hopefully the upcoming trip provides me with the...
I have been a bit hesitant to chime in on this post having been an individual that wrote a positive report based on my visit with Motshwere. A little worried I would get both barrels from everyone if I shared a story that differs from what everyone has watched. I want to start with stating that...
On my 2021 trip we harvested 12 plains game animals ranging from Springbuck to eland and all were taken using a Savage 308 with a 20" barrel and shooting Barnes 168 ttsx. With a well placed shot the 308 is more than capable of taking any game on your list. Also, in the event you had issues with...
Rifle has made it's way to its new home. Thanks @Frank375 the rifle rifle is in just as good of shape as your add stated it was. Cant wait to get it out on the range.
In summary, we had an amazing experience at Motshwere. Game was plentiful and for the most part we had to work quite hard to take the animals we were fortunate enough to harvest. The accommodations and food were outstanding and all members of the staff were professional and friendly. In being...
Well after a couple day break I figure if better wrap up the report. Day 8 and 9 left me with 2 animals remaining. I had been searching for a proper waterbuck the entire trip so far and had yet to lay eyes on anything but females and a couple of immature males. That was about to change. We were...
Book with Qatar and sleep easy. We just returned a week ago and things went very smooth through Doha. Long flight but they seem to be consistent with their schedule and very little change. If traveling with firearms, make sure they are notified and have your negative PCR covid test and you will...
A real question here and this is coming from a guy who took a 308 with a brake on a recent trip (My young son was hunting and it worked well for him). No I'm not trying to be sarcastic I am genuinely curious and from the comments I feel like I can get a straight answer. DB's created from a short...
Day 7 got off to another early start. Today we were looking for Kudu and Waterbuck, 2 that had managed to elude us for the entire trip so far. Seemed like everyone else in camp had either taken or seen a large Kudu bull and everyone but me had a seen multiple Waterbuck. Man did we cover some...
On to day 6 of our 10 day adventure. We started the day early and were headed out with no particular target in mind. it didnt take long before our morning took a slightly different turn. We had been out and about for about 20 minutes and then this happened. Well looks like we will be here for a...
Looks like a wonderful trip and congrats on some great looking trophies. Having just returned myself, I couldn't agree more that there is no better time to visit South Africa. We had the same flight experience as you, nearly empty planes and an entire row to ourselves. Congrats again and thanks...
Day 5 got off to an early start, we were headed to a large tribal concession to search for impala. It was a short drive and after an amazing ram was taken a few days prior by another member of our group, I was excited for the day to get underway. We knew, upon arrival that we would be hiking to...
Sorry to keep adding bits and pieces but I try to add a bit more between meetings now that I had to come back to the real world. after a nap on the afternoon of day 2 we headed back out to see what the bush had to offer. Although were able to view many wonderful animals, we just didn't see...
