I never listen except when I see people cross the line in my opinion burying people with their philosophy about their lion hunting ethics which discourages people…I don’t let that go unchallenged my friend…I go right back at them hard!!!
I took a shortcut my friend even though I am a staunch reloader…I sent my Rigby 275 cases and Partition 175 grain bullets to Hendershots and they reloaded for me targeting 2500 FPS. They shoot clover leaf for me at 100 yards with my Rigby HS in 275 Rigby
They have different brass stamps of course which is what is usually checked. On my many trips to SA they have only checked my rifle serial numbers nothing else
They are not. So easy to do as follows: 1. get both rifles on form 4457. I always use a third party like Rifle Permits who will help you apply for your temporary rifle license well in advance. Could not be easier!
They must have. When I was just 19 they were all the rage and my dad and I each had one on our Ruger M77 30-06’s.This was back in 1976. They lasted until 2010 when both scopes fogged up due to the seals finally giving out
Which is why I hunt elephant with a 450 NE or higher, but I will have hunted 3 elephant by 28 and plan on hunting more versus the OP sounds like he wants only 1 which will be a great accomplishment!!! I really like his vision to take the Big 5!!!
You will find it clearly is pretty much just opinion. I have seen grade 5’s not come close to that in my mind on a Winchester I owned and have seen @Red Leg with a Rigby HS scoring a 5 that to me was clearly above a 5. Based on your two pictures I would score the stock above a 5 but not close...
Just me...I have always had to have a custom box made for any of my gun shipments. I go to a Federal Express shop that makes custom boxes WITH ONLY THE CASE NOT GUN INSIDE, it will usually freak them out if the gun is inside. I get the box, place the gun inside and ship at USPS. I have been...
I lived 9 years in TX. Almost all hunting is on leases or outfitters. You can spend $500 to take a deer up to easily $25,000. My point is they are all over the board. In my opinion outfitter hunting worked better for me than a lease. Now it’s been over a decade since I lived their but then I...
Agree which is why me personally nothing less than a 450, 470 or 500 NE. My point is your PH better have a heavy hitter beyond a 375 backing you for elephant in case of a charge or I am not hunting with them
Good reply…your 375 will do the job with your PH backing you no problem. Me personally I want a 4 as the first number for elephant and I will be having that for my next two elephants in 27 and 28 in Moz and had one for my first. It really is about “want” not “need”. You don’t need anything...
I can’t think of a SA outfitter that if they know the circumstances you described would not work with you so both of you have a great experience. To better enable that I recommend doing a hunt where you have the entire camp to yourself for the week. That would rule out two of my favorites...
I want to say I met him at his plant in 1983 or 84. He died in a Gainesville hospital where his plant was in 1988. To your point I was just a 20 something year old kid and he was so down to earth and just talked hunting. His plant had all glass so on the upper floor you could see every...
I was so blessed to decades ago when I did business in Florida to stop by Fred Bears plant to visit and he was there and was so kind to spend an hour with me and sign one of his painting prints for me…priceless…I was in the room of a legend!!!
My zebra rug has a felt lining and is still looking awesome after 10 years in my office under my desk and chair. I just have to vaccum. It sounds like something is seriously wrong with what I suspect is a hide not a rug
I am doing that again from ATL to JNB Tsala picks me up drive to Moz. In advance you pay your rifle fees through your outfitter for Moz. I use rifle permits for my SA license given you have to pick up your rifle there then drive or charter fly to Moz where there are rifle fees
Agree!!! He has carried us with him many times on some incredible hunts!!! While I am sure it was hard to do you will always have awesome memories of your experiences !!!
Tanks I don’t think anyone is arguing CBL is conservation, I am not in any way. Today it is purely a profit enterprise to be clear, no question. I just find it interesting that @375Fox who certainly is entitled to his opinion on CBL yet he has never been on one while he speaks like he has so...
The problem in the marginal area you correctly describe is due primarily to poaching by villagers that is still out of control in my opinion certainly on PG which are almost non existent while on the growing portion excellent anti-poaching villagers seem to understand value of animals beyond...
Completely agree with you on your point!!! There are certainly many different type of CBL hunts some despicable to me as it would be for you. That is why instead of painting all CBL hunts as the same I am just calling out that is unfair. I must have called six different outfitters until I...
Spoken by a man who has hunted neither one nor charged by both as I have. Let me assure you both are still potentially very dangerous and can kill you just as fast
No question about it. I lived in TX for 12 years. Your deer is whatever price you were willing to pay. Also let me assure you even expensive wild lion hunts to the multiple phs I have talked to have an almost slam dunk kill rate given they are all pre baited before the hunt begins why I think...
The one I went on the lion had been released three weeks before I came and was feeding on his kills. Just look for my video of that lion charging me dropping at 7 yards to see if this type hunt is a slam dunk non exciting hunt
No disrespect to Heym but for that price I am close to the new Rigby DR. Yes they are new many will say but I have found their customer service to be superb versus what I constantly hear about Heym
I like keeping mine to a small rollable butcher block table with an open book case with baskets next to it for my supplies. It fits in any size room no matter how small and works perfectly for me. Keeps the wife happy too with its small footprint
To me it is not about the weight as much as how it may affect the balance of the rifle between my hands and the ease of naturally bringing it up to my eye.
Without question. It’s not the taxi that is expensive it is the storage and shipping. Don’t know why but I had trouble just getting it to the US so they called and said they could first get it to ORD first get US inspection then fly to ATL versus direct to ATL…don’t ask me why. Today you really...
I owned a Merkel in 500 NE in their 140 model and loved it!!! Never use the word shame on a nice respected DR. You shoot yours very well and it is beautiful!!!!
