I can’t think of a SA outfitter that if they know the circumstances you described would not work with you so both of you have a great experience. To better enable that I recommend doing a hunt where you have the entire camp to yourself for the week. That would rule out two of my favorites...
I want to say I met him at his plant in 1983 or 84. He died in a Gainesville hospital where his plant was in 1988. To your point I was just a 20 something year old kid and he was so down to earth and just talked hunting. His plant had all glass so on the upper floor you could see every...
I was so blessed to decades ago when I did business in Florida to stop by Fred Bears plant to visit and he was there and was so kind to spend an hour with me and sign one of his painting prints for me…priceless…I was in the room of a legend!!!
My zebra rug has a felt lining and is still looking awesome after 10 years in my office under my desk and chair. I just have to vaccum. It sounds like something is seriously wrong with what I suspect is a hide not a rug
I am doing that again from ATL to JNB Tsala picks me up drive to Moz. In advance you pay your rifle fees through your outfitter for Moz. I use rifle permits for my SA license given you have to pick up your rifle there then drive or charter fly to Moz where there are rifle fees
Agree!!! He has carried us with him many times on some incredible hunts!!! While I am sure it was hard to do you will always have awesome memories of your experiences !!!
Tanks I don’t think anyone is arguing CBL is conservation, I am not in any way. Today it is purely a profit enterprise to be clear, no question. I just find it interesting that @375Fox who certainly is entitled to his opinion on CBL yet he has never been on one while he speaks like he has so...
The problem in the marginal area you correctly describe is due primarily to poaching by villagers that is still out of control in my opinion certainly on PG which are almost non existent while on the growing portion excellent anti-poaching villagers seem to understand value of animals beyond...
Completely agree with you on your point!!! There are certainly many different type of CBL hunts some despicable to me as it would be for you. That is why instead of painting all CBL hunts as the same I am just calling out that is unfair. I must have called six different outfitters until I...
Spoken by a man who has hunted neither one nor charged by both as I have. Let me assure you both are still potentially very dangerous and can kill you just as fast
No question about it. I lived in TX for 12 years. Your deer is whatever price you were willing to pay. Also let me assure you even expensive wild lion hunts to the multiple phs I have talked to have an almost slam dunk kill rate given they are all pre baited before the hunt begins why I think...
The one I went on the lion had been released three weeks before I came and was feeding on his kills. Just look for my video of that lion charging me dropping at 7 yards to see if this type hunt is a slam dunk non exciting hunt
No disrespect to Heym but for that price I am close to the new Rigby DR. Yes they are new many will say but I have found their customer service to be superb versus what I constantly hear about Heym
I like keeping mine to a small rollable butcher block table with an open book case with baskets next to it for my supplies. It fits in any size room no matter how small and works perfectly for me. Keeps the wife happy too with its small footprint
To me it is not about the weight as much as how it may affect the balance of the rifle between my hands and the ease of naturally bringing it up to my eye.
Without question. It’s not the taxi that is expensive it is the storage and shipping. Don’t know why but I had trouble just getting it to the US so they called and said they could first get it to ORD first get US inspection then fly to ATL versus direct to ATL…don’t ask me why. Today you really...
I owned a Merkel in 500 NE in their 140 model and loved it!!! Never use the word shame on a nice respected DR. You shoot yours very well and it is beautiful!!!!
Not kidding I got lost between taxidermist, their shipping cost then Coppersmith cost. I know I paid Coppersmith $2100 and the shipper $1700. I can’t remember Collets cost but you can reach out to them and they can provide that!
My friend Bill @Hooked Now is coming to Zim to hunt and pick this knife up for one of his friends. He is so gracious to volunteer to pick one up for me. Please tell me how to pay and arrange this? My personal details are being PM to you
I know this sounds crazy but like everyone else Swift A Frame bullets are non existent. I got lucky and somehow got an email from them of availability limit two boxes in 9.3x62. I have my custom load for this bullet which is not what is in the two boxes of fully loaded ammo…so I am pulling the...
There is actually an easy button that costs about $300 using my preferred lady Jennifer at @TRAVEL EXPRESS who has done all my hunts or some people use Gracy both do exactly what you are asking…I can’t imagine one of my safaris without Jennifer!!!
Thanks everyone! I have no idea of the length. I can tell you they ended up being about 13 pounds. While I am pleased with the final results done by Collett my lessons learned are as follows:
1. Don't just pick the taxidermist, also know who their shipper is.
2. My real problems were with the...
Going on my third year finally got my tusks and Ear with map back!!! While small, they mean the absolute world to me and thrill me greatly. I especially love the wooden map of Africa on the bases. The map on the ear came out as well.
