416 rem mag now that r15 is not to be found what powder do you use?

Varget is very very close to RL15, a good choice. CFE223 is the slighly slower burning ball-powder version, but gives more speed in many instances

What is the best scope for a 375 RUM?

I find the NX8 have a very small eyebox and need optimal cheekweld. I am much happier with Leupold VX6 1-6 ( 416 rigby) and Vx 6 2-12 on a 9.3x375, much better field of vision. Maybe not quite as robust.

    Question for the experienced handloader

you are dealing with a number of variables and without pressure testing ( which generally is easier to obtain in Europe) you can only guess where you are pressure wise. Your best approximator is measuring bullet speed ( Garmin Xero's are comparably cheap) The major variables are -brass (...

    Thoughts on this 375 H&H?

this is a military 98 action, original is standard length ( cut-out for loading strips on the left). It will have major modifications/lengthening of the action to fit a 375H&H, it was made for 8x57IS. Whether this is any good depends on the metallurgic skills of the gunsmith/welder. Also the...

    9.3 wildcat

Agree with all he says, the rimless variants are the wildcats based on 8x64, 375 Ruger ( as I have it) 300 WSM, with similar velocities, but all at higher pressures and not rimmed. So this cartridge ( at 366 or 375) certainly fills a niche. I like it.

CWD safe to eat or not?

prions are " denatured" neurotropic proteins, they made it from dead sheep via heat processed feed into elk and cattle. And from Cattle to humans, especially in Switzerland and England where that feed was employed. So I would not eat anything that has tested positive for any prion disease for...

    9.3x62 Ackley Improved

this is understating things for the 9.3x64: for 286 gr you are getting to 2750 fps with medium burnrate powders ( Varget, H4350) and even more with powders in the 4831 range.

    300 weatherby i magnum

    .375 reduced loads

H4895 and 270 gr bullets from Hornady or speer. H 4895 can be reduced to even 60% of max load without detriment ( google reduced loads), even around 50-52 gr would give you about 2000 fps. which should be pretty soft shooting. or if you want to get into the 1300 fps range, try Trailboss.
