Yes, the ShotKam at the end of my 32" Beretta DT11 adds noticeable weight. I usually shoot 50 to 60 rounds then take it off. You can definitely feel the extra weight on the barrel.

I guess I have the opposite problem. I struggle with targets in the trees, but do fine in open field. I use a ShotKam to help with correcting my sight picture. They are a very good tool and show you exactly what you are doing wrong.

I put a Trijicon RMR 3.5MOA on my double and a Leupold 1-6X24 Firedot on my Model 70 375H&H and my 416 Rigby. If you turn the scope down to 1X, it functions like a RMR red dot sight.

I own both a pre-64 and 3 modern Model 70's. Fit and finish on the new ones is superior to the pre-64 and all four function flawlessly. The pre-64 is a 30.06, the new ones: 270 Win, 300WinMag and 375H&H Safari Express. If you can find one, buy it.

Like some of the other posters above, I used my 416 Rigby Big Game on zebra, roan, buffalo, and even an impala ram that wandered close to a bush blind when we were looking for kudu. It works just fine if you don't have to shoot very far.

If you want Federal, you will have to order from their website in the custom shop section. Last time I looked most, if not all, of the usual stuff shows as unavailable. Custom shop will make up what you want, but it's a bit pricy.

The Shikari is a smart move by Rigby. Priced at the market above a nice Heym or Chapuis double ($15,000 to $25,000) but below the $125,000+ for a Rigby rising bite or a Holland & Holland, or Westley Richards, etc.

I have three new Model 70's and a pre-1964 Model 70 in 30.06. All four are great rifles. No noticeable difference in how the action operates--silky smooth in all of them. The new rifles have better wood and the finish on them is actually better than the pre-'64. Buy either with confidence.

It's the rifle that you or your PH can shoot quickly and accurately, and probably in 470 NE or bigger.

Let's make this easy. Buy a Model 70 in 375H&H and be happy. Hunt anywhere in the world for the biggest, baddest game and do your thing.
