If it helps, I recently found that the first shot, from a cold barrel, is considerably slower than shots after that. I'm not saying this happens to everyone, but it does with my hand loads on my Rem 7mm Mag, AND my 270 Win. So much so, it blows the Standard Deviation all to heck.

I had the same concerns, so I found a load for the tsx at 2,900 fps. It got me thinking though, should a person even expect greater than double with TSX?

I too hunted with Bullet Safaris in Rungwa last year. We had an amazing time! By the way, I believe that is a Crawshay's Zebra, found in that area and known for their vivid stripes.
