I have a dozen or so wall pedestals and have come to a personal decision not to do any more. You have to mount them with special hangers because they don’t balance and I think a shoulder mount is just as satisfying.
I don’t like straight mounts or slight turns . I prefer harder turns with the...
I toured the SI facility. Met the owner and from the 200 or so finished heads I saw the work looked very good.
I got an estimate for finished taxidermy or dip/pack with shipping.
I chose dip and pack because the costs including shipping for finished work were higher than if I did the taxidermy...
I am trending toward modern 7mm ‘s 7 rem mag , 7 prc , 280 ai . They shoot sub 3/4 inch groups with 150-170 grain loads.
I fondle my Dakotas and older winchesters but they don’t get out much. As I’m I am in my 70’s I enjoy lower recoil and 22 inch suppressed barrels. I shoot weekly and smile...
I’m in the 7mm Barnes ammo camp for just about everything….and I enjoy Ron Spomer on you tube videos
150 gr TTSX in my 280 ai
160 lrx in my 7 rem mag ( 1 in 8 twist )
170 grain tsx in my 7prc
Yes you have customs people who have let you slide by the law
There is an ATF form you can fill out and if approved will allow you to take your suppressor as a temporary export
A blesbuck on a small property in South Africa. Not something I wanted to do again .
Now I hunt in Africa on a minimum of 25000 acres and next year Botswana on 300,000 acres
Great bullets my choice Montana to Africa
2 different PH’s in Africa insisted I bring 300 grain TSX for buffalo - killed 3 cleanly
TSX is best choice out to 300 yards -no tip
TTSX 300 to 500 yards - tipped
LRX over 500 yards- tipped long range elongated design.
They open upon impact and spinning...
Had a great safari last year on plains game with my 280ai and 150 grain Barnes TTSX . All seven critters were one and done including zebra and wildebeest. This forum attracts the big caliber guys but I submit that the accuracy of the shooter is just as important and quite possibly more...
Great report. I really liked your pictures. I had a great time with Ernest on my second trip to Africa. He is a class act from top to bottom. A pleasure to spend time with in africa
I have 5 boxes of Weatherby 7 Prc ammunition for sale. This ammo uses the 177 grain Hammer custom bullet. $350.00 shipped to you . This ammo was recommended to me by Mark Biggerstaph and I like it but my gun likes the new Barnes 170 grain a little better.
I also don’t like bud, miller, coors, and all the other mainline beers. I have one beer in the evening most of the time and I want something that tastes great. I am all in on hazy IPA ‘S. As far as alcohol content goes less than 7 is my go to selection.
I enjoy a local brewery visit and I...
Putin has lots of nukes and that causes every country to hesitate to respond appropriately to his evil ways. When I read his manifesto on Russian destiny I am pretty darn sure he is borderline crazy
I try to take my son every 2 or three years to Africa. Next year it is Botswana.
What gets to me is not the price of the hunt , it is the other costs added to hunt costs.

Maybe a 6.5 PRC shorter 22 inch barrel threaded for suppressor.
270 also a good versatile caliber . It’s really the bullet you put in it that matters just as much.
I like my 280AI for everything. Went to Africa last fall and hunted deer /elk speedgoats here in Montana.
I continue to add to my Dakota collection but all I need is the “Traveller model at this point and finding that model is expensive !
I am very close to done with adding guns .
P.S. If you...
I have same Christensen ridgeline fft in 280 ai but barrel is 22 inches and I use a 5 inch Thunderbeast suppressor.
Great rig ! Shoots under 1 inch/ 100 yards
Have same rig in 6.5 PRC and is also excellent
Good luck with your sale.
Quad sticks are great for long shots from a standing position when you can get away with standing. I own Rudolph and viper . Both very good . Viper is lighter.
Primos trigger sticks are good for out to 300 yd when sitting or standing or kneeling . They are my go to in mt .
Prone is best but...
We have fought cancer as a family and know a lot more about it than I ever wanted to know.
My advice is stay with your wife until you know your in the clear and the visit Africa.
I am looking for a left handed 25.06 for my son for Christmas. Moderately priced … if anyone has one they would like to part with please let me know. Thank you rick
Any brand of quad sticks. Supporting the back end of the rifle improves accuracy. They are easy to use once you get used to them. Rudolph sells them for around 100 bucks direct. Viperflex are the carbon Cadillac 3-400. I have both and if PH is carrying them who cares how much they weigh.
Ricky and I leave on Sept 20 for our hunt with John X in the eastern Cape of South Africa. After examining our alternatives we have decided to go with Delta again. Bozeman to Atlanta and then to Joberg . Overnight at Africa Sky , then on to port Elizabeth.
We will be on a 10 day hunt. Ricky is...
Very common here in Montana. While I respect the skill it takes to shoot long ranges, I don’t like the increased possibility of wounding.
The highly technological world we live in is leading all of us down a dark path in many ways.
Get closer !
I would appreciate recommendations for compact binos in the $1000.00 range. When I am not hunting and don’t need my range finding Zeiss Victory’s I would like a small pair of binos for general use. Thanks for your thoughts !
