I like typical horns but I am also a sucker for th oddballs-unique, full of character. The place I have hunted does have a “cull” price for those characters. But every place will have its own ideas about this so make sure you have this discussion with your ph before you go out hunting.
I’ve...
I still use the original rcbs hand priming tool that came with my first “kit.” I’ve added some smaller pieces and parts so I could load smaller calibers.
I like the “feel” of it and can detect too shallow or deep or poor fitting primers. I do clean my primer pockets but I don’t keep brass long...
That lab “Bear” does have a great build-love that big solid head and intelligent eyes. Somehow I managed to miss all the good pix of my dogs this year. This is one of my favorites of my chessie “judge” with a greater aquatic woodpecker-
If I remeber correctly it was a drake that wasn’t producing testosterone-there was lots of discussion about chromosomes and dna and hormones. They were not specifically talking about this occurrence but plumage and sex in general I believe
Saw this they/them this morning on th river near my home. The duck dna scientists have discussed this phenomenon in a podcast with Ramsey Russel recently. Also a pic of one a friend of mine killed a season or two ago-
My slight of build daughters use a featherweight Winchester m70 in 7mm-08. It is a shorter lop and has a slender build, so nice for small framed people. 7mm-08 not a hard recoiler but plenty of killing power for much of big game-
We use a 17hmr savage to get them used to shooting with a...
If you re listed these with A AFrame in the title I wonder if you would get More attention. I’m all stocked up but some of this seems to be in demand regularly-
Something interesting that happens every time Barnes bullets come to the forum. The tsx and the ttsx seem to get intermingled although they are different bullets. I like them both but use them for very different purposes.
I’m on the fence here-it’s a special price for a reason. But if it was really old or broken or had some sort of character, I wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a bull under 40. Euro mount and tell the story forever more.
But at some point I want the opportunity to kill something that brings me to...
Don’t try them yourself. Find a taxidermist that actually does African game and use them or send them off to a tannery. That will be expensive and talk lots of time. Do you really want the back skins that badl?
Maybe I missed this info but are your aniamls Being mounted in Namibia or just dipped and packed?
One thing I can say with surety-Things happen at a slower rate in that part of the world. Communication is different and the spaces from point A to point B seem exaggerated. Services happen when...
Had a good experience buying from McKenzie Sims. We tried to meet up but he ended up having to ship about 25 pounds of brass!
We need to meet up another day, maybe catch you this fall around Evanston-
The brindling of blue wildebeest make beautiful mounts but the unique skull also looks good as a euro. I mounted my blue but did my black as a euro and have been pleased with the results.
I killed mine after one of the trackers spotted a group of three feeding together near a small dam. We were distracted watching some kudu the other direction.
We made a 30-40 minute stalk and shot him between 1-200 yards. It seemed to me the bulls love to rub in the mud . Mine was feeding...
Please check out Game4Africa. I’ve hunted there three times and will go again someday. They have lodging for a large group and can easily satisfy your game desires.
I have posted written reports in the hunt reports section on here and please check out the video I had made after my most recent...
I know this is an Africa Hunting forum so please forgive me some non hunting levity. The flollowong events are mostly true and the intent is to share a laugh.
Some years ago my wife and I were watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation-there is the Lingerie scene with “Mary” we easily...
Break the hip or even take out the knee! They can’t move after that and you can apply the coup de grâce whether it be finding the heart or spine.
Beware the tail tho, that thing is a weapon from any angle.
Bonded softs for heart and lung shot but I think I would just load all solids. . .
In my ems career I have been in other peoples showers perhaps a dozen times. Rarely do I even notice that they are naked and they are always extremely grateful for the pain medication and expertise we offer in getting them to the hospital-both men and women!
I always call my wife after and say...
Spend sometime on the accurate innovations website, it will help you immensely. I had one built there but it’s been so long I don’t remember the price but it was a good experience and I loved th finish product-
The east cape contains part of the Karoo which is tremendous springbok country and also contains some great warthogs. It will be easier to sort out “representative” species than trophy ones, so it definitely depends on how much time you want to dedicate to the task.
The springbok as mentioned...
I love them both and would take whichever presented a representative specimen first.
Both can be a fun stalk!
One advantage of springbok is that you could go back and hunt the color varieties in the future if you were inclined.
But with both you can always try to shoot a “better one” each time...
I haven’t taken either so I guess which ever I saw first. If I had to pick one I suppose mouflon just because I think it is easier to find opportunities for a good fallow hunt.
Good luck with which you choose!
This is one of those topics to discuss with the specific ph you intend to hunt with in a specific location.
Judging by the footwear seen on airplanes or in jo burg airport, most hunters far over achieve in th footwear department!
On my .375 I use QD bases in conjunction with two different scopes kept in QD rings. One scope for dg with a heavy strong bullet and the other for plains game with a much smaller, More frangible projectile.
Similar to your experience, I have not had problems with accuracy or point of impact...
