I grew up reading Bell and Taylor, just marveling at how they described their Ivory hunting. I know that they were not hunting for trophy's, but for their livelyhood in a far different world than today.
That said I doubt very much I will ever hunt an elephant unless there is a rogue circus...
Don't know if your girls are into history. If so hit the national WW 2 museum. I can't remember what street it is on but easy walking distance from bourbon st
OK Guys, I'm sorry that I didn't actually go INTO space to save those stuck astronauts. I did however ignite the rocket from 1000 yards with my wildcatted 23 Creedmore by bouncing the bullet off of a steel plate, making the sparks to ignite the fuel. I learned how during my 4 tours of...
I knew more than a few of those contract marriages. We had two 2nd Lts who ended up married for the last 50 years or so. I know of more than a few that we divorced at the first EAS
To all of my Marine Brothers, Semper Fi! The Corps is not just a period of our lives. Parris Island burned the Eagle , Globe ,and Anchor into my soul and being. Here is a wish for a happy 250th Birthday.
The only musical I could ever stomach. My grandkids all loved it setting with me ,popcorn, and Mary Poppins. My daughter watched it so much she can do the supercalifragilisticexpialodocious backwards!
My kids loved those thing, along with the cards and everything. #2 son has his son playing Pokémon. Want to annoy a kid around 5 or 6 who is into Pokémon, call them POKEY MAN
I had a fire get me about 3 years ago that scorched an acre or so of my back yard, the ditch, and about a 100 ft or so of the neighbors soybeans before we got it out. Started it with my lawnmower somehow. Scared the crap out of me but the neighbor ran the tractor with disc's that he was...
Damn, what a deal. I told my son he needed to jump on it but he is a cro-magnon who said " Why would I need that Dad, I'm not you!" My Granddaughter wouldn't forgo her allowance for the next 2 years for me either. Seriously though, I congratulate the buyer.
Look after your Sweetheart and cherish the time. Africa has been where it is for a very long time and will be there for you both down the line.
I will keep y'all in my prayers.
My favorite aircraft of all time is the F4U Corsair!! Big prop, tall tail, and those bent wings just speak to my soul. I have always wanted to work on one but have not had an opportunity as of yet. Always loved the A26 and the the FW 190 as they both have the "I am going to kill you" look...
my wife and I spent 2 weeks in Scotland last year. She had geaneology to follow and we saw a bunch of countryside. Scotland seemed calm to me, even in Edinbough seemed safe and secure. However, the cab drivers told us what areas to avoid when the wife's cousins weren't there.
I have never had anything done taxidermy wise. Either I was always moving, too broke to afford it, or just never caught the bug. All of my friends have many deer mounted but, to me at least, they were either poorly done or placed. Also, in my neck of the woods deer mounts are commonplace to...
Sometime our illustrious Corps does other things than "seek out, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver, or repel the enemy's assault by fire and close combat". Sometimes we do simple math, even if we have to take our boots of count!
I am in the category of an answer to a question that shouldn't be asked. The area it operates in is full of a bunch of rounds already. Honestly, I can't see enough difference between the 7mm PRC, 7mm Weatherby Magnum, or .28 Hornady for that matter for the 7 BC to exist.
This is me. Screwed up my knees having a good, eventful youth. Hurt my shoulder the other day so now I look like I a newborn giraffe on ice trying to get up. My grandkids watch and laugh!
I am a member of Navy Federal CU. I went to their closest branch to me and did my first transfer. The only problem I had was that there are so few wire transfers done in a smallish rural community that they hadn't done one in two years. Had to dig out the books, call a larger branh, but got it...
I think that a .270 Winchester is more than capable of taking any pig on this planet. Using a good 150 grain bullet will work best. If you feel you need more power, go a lot bigger. Jump to something in the range of a .375 or .416. Just my opinion
Instead of "I never be your beast of burden" my Daddys little girl thought it was "I'll never leave your pizza burning". The look on her brothers face was a mixture of Holy shit and You can't be MY sister
Ŵe got to see the Beach Boys in concert at MCAS New River back in Dec of 2002. We froze our tails off but they put on a great show. I remember him saying that had they knew they would be doing concerts 50 years later they would have made a lot more slow songs!
First, none of the last three Democrat Presidents served. Clinton actively evaded the draft and Lord only knows how Biden evaded. I know that Trump had a medical deferment.
Second, I guess you haven't listened to his speech. Even this Marine likes what he has said. Two of my sons were...
Those actions were never unsafe. I much preferred how they worked over the MKII control round feed actions. They all felt smsother to me, along with the safety being where it is so much more convconvenient. I have owned about a dozen or so of them and still have two.
