I spent some time in the P I, thanks to Uncle Sam. On our weekends off some of us would rent a skoshi cab and head for the hills. It was very interesting to mingle among the simple native people. Their simple life away from the hustle and bustle of the cities was refreshing. The slow relaxing...

    Twenty-Five Years Ago Today

When I looked out my kitchen window while making coffee that morning the San Juan Strait in Washington was bank to bank with all sorts of military and law enforcement watercraft. I turned on the tv and could hardly believe my eyes. Both towers were enveloped in fire and smoke. Needless to say...

    Anybody here into wood working?

I've worked wood in one form or other all my life. Grew up logging, became a building contractor/ furniture maker. I like working rustic cedar and knotty alder and built most of the stuff in my house. Wood is an amazing source of wonderful creations.

    RiP Dolly, we loved you

I remember when she got her start with Porter Wagoner way back in the 60s. I used to listen to them on my way to work every night and watch them on tv. Even then as a young kid she had the makings of a super star. She made it in spades. Miss you, girl.

    Hunting Antarctica

when I was in the navy some people came around seeking volunteers to go down there. After talking with them I decided against it. The tour would have been for a year. Having been born and raised in Maine that cold place did not appeal to me at all.

I used Barnes 235gTSX for pg and Barnes 350g for dg. Perfect out to 250yds which is as far as I care to shoot. One shot kills on all. 350g TSX went clear through my buf stem to stern and we never found the slug. The king of rifles rules. The one and only for anything on earth.

Practice reloading in varying conditions. Work on reloading on the run without looking at the rifle. Quick reload on the sticks--when the rifle recoils eject and reload with the gun in the air. Carry two rounds in your off hand between the index and second finger. Used to do that in 3 gun with a...

    What TV hunting personality?

If I were to consider it, it would have to be a serious hunter like Craig Boddington, Jeff Rann or Jim Shockey. TV personalities don't do a thing for me. They are too self centered and I don't think I'd want one of them waving a rifle around in my vicinity. I've hunted two on one a few times...

Nice. Wonder how a clear plastic coat would look on a wood stock. You'd have the look and it would be sealed against weather.

    Wood or synthetic?

To me shooter is the name of the game. Form follows function. I prefer good wood and blue steel but I like a good gray or green laminated stock and stainless metal. too. Geography dictates which.

The high cost is because of all the illegals the DEMS have brought into the country and the other trash that doesn't pay . They don't pay so the medics have to soak it to the rest of us to try to recoup the expense.
