My thought exactly. You need to get down to two rifles. Go with the .300/.375.

I not sure I understand your point. Having lived in Alaska and run an oil refinery there, I wasn’t aware of any subsidies. In fact, the permanent fund dividend made it seem like the oil industry was subsidizing Alaska residency. What am I missing?

If you’re departing out of Whittier, don’t spend any extra time there. The locals swap the W with an S when they pronounce it. It is very appropriate. However, if you are departing out of Seward, consider some extra time. The Kenai fjords tour is fantastic, the sea life center is worth a...

I’ve spent a lot of time in Anchorage on business when living in Fairbanks and Kenai. Breakfast can be awesome in Alaska. The Snow City Cafe always had a great breakfast. Simon’s & Seafort’s was the best seafood restaurant in town. The double Muskie in girdwood is worth the drive. While...

Ease of converting 9.3x62 to 9.3x64 Brenneke

9.2 mm and 5,300 joules. That’s roughly 2,480 fps with a 286 gr bullet. Admittedly, factory loads I am aware of do not meet this threshold, however, it’s a pretty easy mark for a hand loader.

Ease of converting 9.3x62 to 9.3x64 Brenneke

As I understand your regulations, that is not accurate. Your limit is bullet diameter and energy, not cartridge specification. A 9.3x62 loaded to minimum energy levels, which is very possible, meets the Zim requirements. Otherwise, Don Heath’s work in this regard was in vain.

Question for you, years ago I ran an oil refinery in Wyoming. Main power came in off the grid, but we had one diesel generator driven by an old submarine engine, and three big gas driven waukeshaws. When we would bring a waukeshaw online we had phase indicators and manually switched them into...

It is tricky, I.e. expensive, to automatically sync those big units in and out. I’ll bet it is exactly what you suggest. My guess is that they have to let the grid get back up and stable, bring those units up, and then they have sync switching capability to bring them back in.

I wonder if their switching system creates a backfeed concern? Those waukesha’s have to be synced to the grid. Going in and out can be tricky on large units. I’ve used the bang poles to link a refinery back in in an emergency. Serious pucker factor, bang pole or not.

Check Costco. If you don’t mind manual switching on your power feed, they sell multi fuel generators that I suspect will handle your load at sub $1,000 pricing. I’m looking to pick one up and hook it to my propane tank. That would give me a very extended alternate power supply.
