    Ruger K1-S .35 Whelen

Some of you must have seen these out now? K1-S is the medium weight, but is still 22" and not 24". Stainless and walnut, several on GB, all appear to have real nice walnut stocks. A bit pricey but nice rifles. I think if I didnt already have the African 77 I would pop for one of these.

    303 or 45-70?

I had the .303 for a while, but sold it as I just didnt get along well with the rifle, I found it very awkward especially with a scope mounted. It shot well, but I think I have been spoiled by the Ruger No.1 system which is much more user friendly at least to me.

    Mannlicher-Schoenauer GK

Old thread I know, but nice rifles. I am actually pondering the purchase of one, a '65 GK. We shall see..... My biggest concern it the scope arrangement. It has the high claw mounted 4X Hensoldt and with the low comb buttstock I can see a riser likely would be needed to get any kind of cheek...

    1903 springfield

My first question would be, what exactly do you have? Early '03, 03A3, high number '03? What maker? '03 Springfield covers a lot of ground.

    SHILOH called today, finally!

I hope to enjoy it, thanks. They do need a refresher in timely communications. Getting info from them is like pulling teeth. 3 years isnt too bad, but I was told 2 years. I asked 4 times for tracking info on this gun, and got nothing. LGS called and said come do the papers, that means it was...

Got my hands on it today. Almost anticlimactic after 3 years. Bring it home in a couple of weeks. Counter guy wanted his pic taken with it I guess, volunteered for the full length shot, LOL.

    SHILOH called today, finally!

Ha, no worries. In fact if loaded up to full snuff, its dang near there, but probably wont be much fun to shoot. The later Lyman manuals shows some fierce stuff that I want no part of.

    SHILOH called today, finally!

Talk about insane prices. I recently saw I think it was 20 pcs of new brass for the .45-110 go for something over $400. Fortunately I got in a pretty good supply a couple of years ago and probably enuf for my needs till they throw dirt in my face.

Any and all at some point. Was going thru my stash today and found a lot of lead bullets from my last Sharps, have black powder and everything needed to load it. To begin with I will shoot smokeless and jacketed.

    Purchased Another rifle I didn't know I needed, 7x64

That looks like a bad case, it happens. I note though that the later stuff seems hotter than previous. I had one round of that show obvious pressure signs not long ago. I pulled one down, noted the charge then dumped a few grains out of some others of that box.

    SHILOH called today, finally!

Hi Don, In Washington state, they passed a law a few years ago mandating a 10 business day wait for ALL firearms. So with weekends and holidays it can stretch to 16 days. It sucks but it is what it is, no way around it.

    Indulge me...Ruger no 1 thoughts.

Big fan here too, have owned them in several calibers and sizes, but they do hurt in the big bores. Biggest I have now is the .405 Win and its not too bad in the Tropical weight. Also have the 1S in .475 Linebaugh which is a rare and fun shooter, and a K1A in .257 Roberts a sweet rifle. Many...

    35 Whelen Ruger Hawkeye african

I need to space out what I shoot over longer periods, a result of having lots, perhaps too many things to shoot. In my case thats a good thing since I may soon not be buying anymore guns due to a new law that may get passed here soon. It would require a permit and training, etc just to...

Two plus weeks for the waiting period to cool my heels, but got it home today. Looks pretty nice. It has had some work done to it. New Lipseys Hawkeye African in .270 Winchester?

That one is overpriced. One sat on GI for months and finally sold for $1250, then one popped up on Gunbroker overnight, it was in my email this morning, but sold for a Buynow of $999. I would have bought that one!
