I haven’t been on the site in a couple months and my app isn’t working so I got on the site through google uninstalled the app and can’t get it back. Trying to find how to get in touch with Jerome. Can someone help me. I miss you guys. Lol.
To andmin the title should be 358 Norma or 358 STA but it comes out like this. This is my second post that did this. Is it my phone or the site not sure how to fix it. Tried to edit but comes out the same?
Which do you guys think would make more sense? I have lots of 300 Win brass that I could make into Norma. I have a 375 Wby that I could shoot 375 H&H in then size down to 358 STA, or use 375 H&H brass to neck down to 358 then fire form. I think the Norma would be easier, the STA would give a...
Nice hearing from you Bob. Don’t think I’ve bantered with you since you said “a 243 wasn’t up to hunting rats” or something similar. lol!! Hope things are well with you.
I am in the process of building a Whelen. But thought the Norma with a 280gr. Swift would make a backup to a big gun that...
Happy Thanksgiving all. I was wondering if any of you boys have played with the 358 Norma. I was thinking about building one. In Iowa you can hunt deer with a rifle over 35 cal. I thought the 180 TTSX would be a hit. Then in Africa the 270 a frame would be great for the big plains game. I know...
Thanks for the info. I am looking to build a 358 Norma and thought this may be a good starter. Unlike most I like detachable mags but I already have two different brands and don’t want a third. With the aftermarket stock I thought maybe there was a chance it would use mags I have so I wouldn’t...
I think that was part of it. Gilbert from Africa Sky seems to really be able to smooth things out. He was helping other clients that were new to the experience get through to a different airline at the same time so I think that gave the Safair employee more room to be a pain.
Flew Safair from Jburg to PE recently. My wife and I both hunt. This was our third trip on this route second on Safair. When we arrived at Jburg from States we put our ammo in a locked box to go to PE. We were given a hastily that our ammo weighed to much. I explained that we had 4 rifles 2 my...
Generally speaking it is best to go down in weight when using Barnes. I use 130s in 308, 150s in 06 and 300. I used 180s in my 300 first Safari went fine but not crazy about animal response. Went to 150s and I feel response is noticeably better. The faster you push them the better they work.
I have never been a fan of FMJ for anything. The wife is a great rifle shot but not much for shotguns so I was wondering how a 308 FMJ would be for blue duiker. My fear would be that it would zip through and the animal would be able to run off. I know they are very small so thought I would ask...
Packing for Africa. Best part of the year, except the hunt of corse.
I usually buy new ammo before the trip and leave most of it behind when I come home. But with ammo going up and being harder to find I have been picking up a couple boxes here and there. I never really payed attention to lot...
Thanks I think I will order them. I just thought I would try it on here for a couple days. Figured someone on here would have tried a RUM and not liked it and would want rid of dies. Save me a couple bucks and give someone else some money for their junk.
Thanks. I’m specifically looking for RCBS, and thought that it was kind of a thing when it came out now not many in use so thought maybe someone may have some sitting around that they want to not have to look at.
Had a couple people interested in the rifle I sold yesterday so am posting another of the same.
This rifle I bought for my wife but she never took it hunting. She likes to hunt with her 308 or 06. For eland and buff she uses a 375 wby or my RUM. I thought she would be a 1 gun girl for...
SPF to jasyblood here on AH. I have another that has been shot that I bought for my wife that she is willing to let go. I will start a new thread with photos of it.
We usually stay at Africa Sky when we get to Jburg. This trip we will be leaving early the next morning on a puddle jumper so thought it might be better to stay at the airport. Gilbert at Africa Sky is a great asset getting through saps, and we sent our gun paperwork to Africa Sky ahead of time...
Don’t pay attention to the middle hole it is a previous shot. There two groups of 3 plus the middle hole. The top group is 270 LRX the bottom group is 350TSX. I would like to be able to use the 350s for buff so if I move up a couple clicks the 270s will be just under 2 in. High and the 350s will...
For my hunting needs I use all Barnes ammo. Over the last couple years they have switched boxes. I was just wondering if anyone has noticed any difference in group size or point of impact change when switching over. I usually use blue box federal or reloads for practice and if I decide to shoot...
If you touch my name by the post you can look at my post. Been on the site forever. And you can see the stuff I’ve bought and sold. Can pm anyone I’ve done business with. Thanks.
Was made an offer but am sticking to my price for the time being.
I picked up a couple rifles from a guy that said his hunting days were done. He told me it was unfired. I can’t see that it has. CZ 550 American 9.3x62. Most of you know what you’re looking at. If you need one here it is. If you don’t know what it is buy it, every hunter with Africa in his blood...
Working at a feedlot today is very different. The hours can be long at times but the work really isn’t to difficult. Driving tractors, payloaders, feed trucks. If you like cattle it is a great job. But you have to like animals and being outside a lot. Sounds really bad don’t it. lol. I always...
People don’t want or need a job. I owned a 5000 head feedlot. 15 years ago I would put an add for help and get 15-20 responses. The last couple years when I put an add out I would get 2 or 3 and they were no good. Got sick of the stress of not enough help and getting to the age I needed someone...
Still working on getting flights for July that aren’t going to break the bank.
Has anyone flown into Cape Town. Is the procedure that same as JBurg? Is there a guest house to stay at like Africa Sky or Afton House. As we would have to fly back out to Port Elizabeth.
I have Remington stocks and the WBY style which is flat in front. Both work but the rounder is nicer to rotate side to side when on sticks. But shooting prone, over a rock, tree, ant hill, or my pack I prefer the flat.
I like the he Remington and WBY style for the kickers. As they come back in recoil the comb slopes away from my cheek. Rifles fit everyone differently. I don’t even like shooting a 7mm much if it has a really straight stock.
Have to make sure paperwork is right. Both people need to be in the room with the guns when they are checked. Sometimes they find something to pick on to get a little grease. :)
1 person can’t take 2 guns of same caliber. We have however taken guns for two people in the same case many times. As long as paperwork is done correctly never had problem with that.
To most people it does seem high. Not sure why but fits me like a glove. Maybe because I have a sort neck so my head stays more vertical. All the guns I hunt with are set up nearly the same.
Thanks for thinking of me! I was talked into a Swarovski before I saw these for sale. I hadn’t responded as I really wanted to buy one of these as well. Just couldn’t talk myself into spending the extra money when I’m trying to to cut down the number of guns I have and put the money into making...
I didn’t lap them. I might start as well. Some say you need to some say no. My rings are all on picatinny rails so I thought they would be quite straight if the rings were of good quality.
