Beating the dead horse. Yes. Dry fire with dummy cartridges so that you are working the bolt and practicing follow up shots. You can't doing it too much. Also, practice reloading your rifle while you keep an eye on your animal. You should be able to reload without looking at your rifle.

Get some riding in before you go or you are going to have some mighty sore muscles. Also learn to balance properly so you are not using the reins and bit to hold yourself in the saddle. Loose reins and a low headed horse make for a relaxed ride.

Not even remotely worth the trouble you may find yourself in. If you are not traveling with a rifle then there is no reason to have those empties, which will be considered the same as live ammunition. It is also illegal to bring those into the UK without the proper import paperwork and license.

Check the crossbolts. I found one of mine loose. That's all I did to mine and everything's been fine for over 300 rounds of full power loads. Mine was assembled in Portugal and was flawless cosmetically and has proven to be flawless mechanically. It's a 416 RM.

I have done it and so have others. Mine was a Husky 98 large ring. No alteration needed for correct feeding. I did bed the action and added two crossbolts because of the greater recoil. Shoots great. It's my favorite rifle.

My favorite is a Husqvarna Mauser in 9.3x62. Made about 1940. It is a Model 146 that was a 9.3x57 that I had rechambered to 9.3x62. It's a plain rifle but it sure looks old school cool.

My 416 RM weighed 9 lb 4 oz w/o scope and it beat me up. A little better with a scope at about 10 lbs 4 oz. I added weight to make it weigh 12 pounds with the scope and it was comfortable to shoot. I carried it without a sling for 10 days no problem. Add some weight.
