I think it’s critical to be able to have honest conversations with your PH/Guide regardless of the country or species about expectations. I told mine clearly I want a honest representation of the species. I don’t need the record book animal I don’t have the book and I left my tape measure at...
Hopefully the shipping issue gets sorted out and they will be available again soon seems a lot of other bullets are being used as a result of availability
Our local CBP guy said they’d received instruction a month or so prior not to include suppressors because ATFs form covered export and also showed ownership prior to the trip. When I asked about other items like binos and the like being added to 4457 he suggested anything else I wanted to have...
My 2025 safari they wouldn’t allow mine on the 4457. ATF has a temporary form that had to be done for export/travel of NFA items. That form is no longer needed for travel around the country but should still be viable for export. That said no one leaving or returning checked mine. Newark only...
I was rereviewing some of his interviews and his thoughts on the CPS has me wanting to shoot my supply of factory 300gr Hornady DGS and load some NFs but ill have to wait until there available to do so. The lack of supply on the NorthFork PP/SS bullets is what drove me to the TSX in my 375.
Kevin Robertson gave a deep dive into them on one of his videos he did with The Big Game Hunting Podcast it’s available via YouTube. Its title Africa Hunting Bullets 101.
Just relistened to it the other day. He is a huge proponent of Cup point solids and the descriptions he gives of the wound...
I’d seen that mentioned and some that do allow them may not when it’s your rifle case vs the person in front of you. Much like ammo where it can be and in what type of packaging.
I pulled the foam threw my rifle in soft case then stuck my boots ammo and rolled up hunting cloths all around it. This seems far cleaner if you don’t want the extra stuff in the rifle case.
It is my understanding that during the bankruptcy tooling was sold off and the current "new" guns are simply old stock parts being assembled which is why they show them but your not actually seeing them in the wild. There is now an after market solution to the Ejectors thankfully so the one...
Eventually they graduate to a bigger rifle, also 22 rifles are probably one of the best suppressor hosts on the planet so put one on there too and have even more fun
Choosing the wrong suppressor is like choosing the wrong rifle. But I love having one on the rifle. It’s also a far better experience for a new shooter introduction. Less recoil less noise means less likely to develop a flinch which subsequently means more effective shooter.
If you have a shooting partner a very good method of “charging target” is a milk just on a pull rope. If you can hit the just consistently head of a buffalo should be easy enough. If you want it higher set string between two posts with grommets like a cloths line
Can’t speak for those three but I hunted with @JKO HUNTING SAFARIS in 2025 in South Africa. Accommodations were wonderful scenery was breathtaking and I would without hesitation take my spouse with me and one of our party did just that.
ETA: Saw your update! This place is wonderful help. Can’t...
There seems to be in the hunting community a black and white opinion on this when it’s more of grey. Hydrostatic shock after a certain point leads to permanent damage as certain things stretch beyond the breaking point. It’s not the only thing to rely on and it’s also not necessary to kill. But...
That is precisely why I went with a 2.5-10x scope it has a BDC but planning to have a turret cut for it so I can be a bit more precise then the BDC offers. One rifle for mixed bag either close or if distances stretch
I think the problem is there’s to much placed on speed of loading and unloading. Not saying some aren’t the results of intentional damage or attempted theft but I truly believe at least in my case it was simply rough handling. Just like others I know who come back with the wheels broken on there...
Al four latches in mine were undone between Joberg and Newark but it was absolutely bone dry. Thankfully the four master locks were secure and didn’t allow anything to leave the case.
I’ve been thoroughly impressed with his content. He has done some excellent interviews with Kevin Robertson which I’ve enjoyed.
One of which he breaks down the different damage in wounds found from “Softs”, RN Solids, FN Solids, and Cup nose solids. If memory serves KR described RN as...
Id ride with the luggage if it meant I could go back sooner. One of the folks on our hunts wife upgraded his seat for a hundred dollars day of the flight. He jokingly apologized for us getting bumped by the stewardess taking him snacks. Made for a great laugh.
I joined here many years ago with...
Long as it’s legal where you’re going and where you’re coming from your fine. You also have federal document with the suppressor giving you permission to temporarily export and reimport it.
Just food for thought but one of the gents I hunted with last year upgraded from cattle to business for $100 the day of the flight the rest of us road cattle class. That was with united
Only downside at the price point ($300) imo is the tubes are fairly short I had to use a rear swept front ring from Ruger for my 375. Not an issue on my 7mm as it’s got a rail that allows closer ring placement.
Lots of folks seem to think affordable means poor quality and in some instances it’s 100% valid. I put the 2025 updated version Fullfield 3-12x on my 7mm Rem Mag and a 2.5-10 on my 375. They offer custom dials calibrated to your ammunition and have several variations of reticle to choose from. I...
308 would certainly cover it but if I’m grabbing a rifle for large elk and bigger animals it’ll be the 7mm I took for plains game or the 375 I hope to take next time.
As for the 6.5 craze I’d sure love to find a 264 Win Mag it punches hard a relative kills about everything with his
My 4457 experience was extremely good. Officer looked at my paperwork asked if he could correct what he thought might be an issue. Retyped it had me sign he signed then looked over my items to insure serial numbers matched.
I enjoyed his African dispatches his series on tv from what I’ve seen has also been enjoyable. I’m all for increasing interest in our sport which I believe he has done.
Upcoming trip could have likely purchased any number of new cartridges that do something different better or more efficiently, I went with 7mm REM Mag. I reload it gives me what should be excellent performance comparable to this new cartridges with 60+ years worth of data and components.
Capstick wrote of the zoo one as well as accounts of elephants being labeled as having ate humans as a result of carrying a limb about in the mouth. Iirc the theory generally (except the zoo) was they didn’t eat the person but had something of there’s held about like a limb in the mouth and as...
