I recently completed my second hunt with @KMG Hunting Safaris in South Africa, with owner Marius Goosen as PH. The short version is that despite some struggles, it was a fantastic hunt. My full write up is on my website at:

Welcome! You're going to have a ball!
I can't speak to the suppressor question, but I found traveling with my own rifles to be relatively easy. Of course, there are permitting services which will do your paperwork for you, but I didn't use one. A little research on this site and a couple of...
Welcome! You found the right place to learn about hunting Africa. I reside in Northern Kentucky, and have one South African hunt under my belt. Hoping to return soon.
Not to hijack the thread, but I also have this exact rifle, but haven't tried handloading for it yet. TNDave...what are some of your favorite .375 Ruger loads?
Ditto the Leatherman.
One of the areas we hunted with KMG in the Eastern Cape was littered with these little bastards and they'd kick up and stick in your leg when you walked. Much better to pull them out with the Leatherman than your fingers!
@wildfowler.250 I've only been to Africa once (so far), and in the interest of "bottom line up front," I went with KMG.
I spent a lot of time on these forums reading hunt reports and narrowed it down to three different outfitters which 1.) Had the animals my buddy and I were looking for 2.)Fit...
I haven't developed any handloads for it, but my Ruger scout has done well with the factory Nosler Trophy Grade 165 grain Accubond and the Hornady ELD-X 178 grain loads.
I would second Marius' comment about bushbuck. We had a pretty legendary scrap with one on my first hunt with KMG a couple of years ago...they are not to be taken for granted. I initially wasn't all that enamored of impala, until I took one that turned out to be the best trophy of the trip! I...
This is a 250 grain GMX from the Hornady Superformance .375 Ruger factory load, fired from my Ruger M77 African at a zebra at about 200 yards. Recovered from just under the skin on the far shoulder, July 2017.
It's right here (emphasis mine):

The misunderstanding is yours. The Founders were specifically opposed to standing armies, and did not trust them. Read the Federalist Papers, specifically #29 and #46. The 2nd Amendment protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms, not the government. And the Supreme Court confirmed...
I answered the poll "undecided," because there was no option to say that the article was pretty well balanced. Although the author freely admitted that they were vegetarian and personally did not like the idea of killing animals, she also did a decent job presenting both sides of the debate...
They are not "undetectable." Undetectable firearms are already illegal. (As if terrorists are being restrained only by their inability to obtain firearms legally.)

Undetectable firearms are already illegal (Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988). Manufacturing a firearm at home for personal use is legal, and always has been. The files were published years ago, and are already out there...it is too late to stop it. And it is the Bill of Rights, not the Bill of...
Personally, I went to Africa with a Ruger scout rifle in .308, and a Ruger M77 African in .375 Ruger...and with the right ammunition, those two rifles will handle anything I aspire to hunt in either North America or Africa.
For Africa, I took Hornady Precision Hunter 178-grain ELD-X for the...
Just did my first hunt with KMG last year, and I will say that it is a top notch operation...already planning my return.
I would also second those who come down in favor of taking your own rifle(s). For me, I like both the familiarity and confidence of shooting my own rifles, and it is nice to...
I went for 7 days, 4 animals (zebra, bushbuck, impala, springbok), add-on game drive, airfare, taxidermy (incl. shipment to the US), and all tips, incidentals...for about $12K.
Working on a plan for a 2020 return! Will probably be reaching out to Marius in the next month or so. (As an aside, I drew a New Mexico bull elk tag for this October, so wish me luck.)
Tell everyone hello...and if you see Martin, tell him he was right about the impala! (He said it was a gold medal, and by my measurements it makes gold by 2.75")
