    Adhesive on rings ?

This. Ross Seyfried fried wrote about it in Guns & Ammo in the late 80’s (I still have that copy around here somewhere) and it works like a hot damn. You WILL NOT have a scope slip if you use this product. I’m on my second can of it over the years.

Improvements to Winchester Safari Express; to Interarms Whitworth

I recall Champlin Firearms 15-20 years ago saying that a Winchester Model 70 Safari Express was the most economical way to a reliable dangerous game gun. If memory serves correct, they recommended five upgrades in no particular order: - Williams machined extractor - Extra power magazine spring...

Red Dot on Win M70 - Iron Sight Cowitness

I know it’s not an RMR I’m going to talk about, but if it’s co-witness with your irons that you’re after I don’t know that you’ll get it with an RMR type optic due to the design, ie. the lenses sit on top of the guts of the mount. If it were me I’d be starting with something like an Aimpoint...

9.3x62 Barnes 250 Grain TSX or Nosler E-Tip 250 Grain for PG up to Eland

Wondering why do you say that? I’ve been using all the variations of Barnes since the early 90’s and have generally been very happy with them (except for the 100 grain TRSX in a 257 Weatherby). Not trying to start anything, just curious. Have you had a bad experience with the E-Tip or...

9.3x62 Barnes 250 Grain TSX or Nosler E-Tip 250 Grain for PG up to Eland

The E-Tip is much softer than a TSX? Sure you’re not confusing your comment with the Nosler BT or Accubond? The E-Tip is homogenous.

    M77 trigger job or replacement?

I’ve had trigger jobs done on 5 of my Rugers - I’d personally go that way - I’ll pay for professional labour any day over replacement parts. If you’re handy with files and stones it’s more than doable yourself as well. DM me if you want a copy of thorough directions.

Powder for 375 Ruger 270 Barnes LRX

Ok, found some Speer data for 375 Ruger and RL16. Other than its temperature stability, one other nice thing about Big Game is how the spherical grains pack into a case with little or no compression.

Powder for 375 Ruger 270 Barnes LRX

Big Game is known to be much less temperature sensitive than most spherical powders. None other than John Barsness has done much experimentation with it and has access to pressure testing labs and has found it to be almost the equal of the Hodgdon Extremes when it comes to temperature...

Powder for 375 Ruger 270 Barnes LRX

I’m not aware of any published load data for RL16 for either fhe 375 H&H or 375 Ruger. Where did you find pressure tested data?

Powder for 375 Ruger 270 Barnes LRX

I know it’s not on your list, but hands down best powder for a Barnes 270 grain in a 375 Ruger is Big Game, 2700+ fps with a listed book max, not by-guess-and-by-golly primer flatness and sticky extraction. Barnes data shows 81.5 grains for 2825 gps from a 24” barrel. The 20” barrel of my Ruger...

QD rings you like for a .375

Place a Talley Low QD ring beside a Low Leupold, or Low Weaver, or just about a Low anything else, and you’ll see how high a Talley QD Low really is.

QD rings you like for a .375

What are you using as a reference for “too low”? Unless you have a very full face, it’s not the ability to get a scope as low as possible so one does not have to raise one’s head up off the comb of the stock. When Im talking low I’m talking about the ability to get one’s face as low as possible...

QD rings you like for a .375

I like the quality of both Recknagel and Talley QD mounts, but both are waaaaaayyyyy too high. Even their Low mounts are very high mounts. Must be a lot of giraffes shooting rifles… I’m thinking of either having some Ruger bases made for a M98 and a M70 so I can use low Alaska Arms rings.

Currently available way to get a 4 round magazine Winchester 70 375 H&H

The purpose is probably none other than to take up room so people with a 7mm REM Mag, 300 Win Mag, etc don’t keep trying to jam a 4 cartridge in their magazine because they will all almost go in but not quite. The standard spring/4 rounds down has been working fine for the pre-64 Mod 70 300...

Currently available way to get a 4 round magazine Winchester 70 375 H&H

Are the same one that posed this on Campfire? It already will work on your .375 H&H Stainless Classic. It has on two of mine and 3 others that I know of. No need for a Weibe magazine box. All that is needed is to replace your magnum magazine spring (the one with the huge speed bump) with a...

Want To Buy Zeiss Diavari V or Victory 1.5-6x42

    Mediums that perform

35 years ago I hunted a lot with a 300 Wby at first with 200 grain partitions and then switched to various revolutions of thenBarnes X/XLC/TSX/TTSX. I then moved to the 340 Wby, ultimately settling on the 225 TSX. Game accounted for with the 340 include one grizzly, 3 bull elk, and 4 bull moose...

.375H&H Barrel length… what say you?

My 375 Ruger has a 20” barrel and I really like this rifle, however I prefer my Model 70 Stainless Classic with a re-contoured 24” barrel. It be always thought of a 375 as a hunting rifle instead of a stopping rifle, and as such prefer the 24” length.
