I've been intrigued by Baileys work. Congratulations on getting your order(s) placed. I hope you take us long on the journey as the build progresses. Now the waiting begins.
Welcome to the 450 Rigby club. Your gun is beautiful.
My gun like 103 grains of H4350 under a NF 450 grain ss. Recoil is manageable, velocity is 2360 fps. Please start low and work up, safe in my gun is not necessarily safe in yours.
Got my first bike at 14, Honda Hawk400. Had lots of bikes over the years. At 60 I decided that chapter was over and sold my bike this spring. This had been my dream bike, it could do it all. BMW K1600GT.
Getting ready for Moz in September. Sized, trimmed and primed cases. New Bertram brass and once fired Norma nickle plated. Loaded some 450 Rigby rounds. 103 grains of H4350 pushing a NF 450 grain SS. Cycle tested everything. Next stop is the range for some trigger time.
I have 2 pair of the Ranger boots. The wide toe box does look a little strange at first but you feet will thank you. I added custom insoles and am very happy with these boots. Much lighter than the Courtney and much quieter than the traditional hiking boot I wore on my first safari.
In 30 06 I have used hornady outfitter CX in 180 gr. Very good performance on animals, and my gun liked it. Couple gemsbok, Sable, blue wildebeest and a couple impala. Bonus is I can find it in stock locally.
My wife joined me for safari in Limpopo in 2023. We extended our stay with several days in Cape Town. We stayed at Blackheath lodge, which we really enjoyed. Did private tour of the cape one day and the Winelands one day. We loved Cape Town.
2 hunts in Limpopo. First one in August, no snakes spotted. Last year we hunted in April and saw a huge black mamba our last day. He was out hunting, luckily we were in the truck heading back to the skinning shed.
I used them in my 30-06, 180 grain. I thought they performed great on Sable and Gemsbok. My 375 did not like the 250 grain outfitter CX so I went back to 300 grain barnes.
I used a Steiner 1-4x24 on my Model 70 in 375H&H it was a great scope. True 1x so you could shoot with both eyes open has a lighted dot and the scope is not busy.
I'm loving the 450 Rigby that I recently purchased here in the classifieds. I would like to secure more brass for it. Does anyone have any they would be willing to sell?
I picked the Heym 450 Rigby up from my ffl this evening. Very happy, great transaction. Everything exactly as described. Thank you Ihook7! It was a pleasure.

Hunted in Limpopo this April. Shot my buffalo with a winchester model 70 SE 375 H&H. Shot was just under 100 yards, barnes 300 grain TSX, high shoulder, broadside. He dropped instantly and the death bellow was almost immediate. I put one more in him as he was on his side. Bullet recovered...
I had great success with my Model 70 Safari Express in 375H&H with Steiner 1-4 illuminated reticle. The gun likes 300 grain Barnes bullets. The buffalo never took a step after receiving the round high shoulder. The death bellow was immediate.
375H&H with NF 250 grain SS. Found the sweet spot with H4350 powder. Light recoil, good velocity and I think very accurate. I hope this will be the rifle and cartridge my wife uses when we go to MOZ in 2027. Plains game for her, no DG.
