I have the Nikon Monarch 1x4 on my 375. It’s been great so far.
FWIW, I think all scopes can fail. Case in point, I had a MK4 Leupold on 10+ lb .308 break on me after several thousand rounds.
If I cannot get a hunting rifle to consistently shoot 1 MOA or better, I get rid of it. That’s just my personal standard. Understand that I was fortunate enough to have employment that allowed/required me to shoot weekly on Uncle Sam’s dime for several years. As a military sniper, my...
I am fortunate enough to have been drawn for an early rifle bull elk tag in Arizona this year. I decided that I’ll use my 375 H&H and set out to develop a load for my Winchester M70 using Barnes 250 grain TTSX bullets.
I subscribe to the OCW school of reloading. If you’re not familiar with...
I'm reading "Man eaters of Kumanon" by Jim Corbett right now. The book is about his adventures in India hunting several tigers and leopards that preyed on humans. (Excellent read by the way). He came to the same conclusion in 1944 as the article, explaining that these big cats could no longer...
Very anxious to hear a range report as I think these rifles look beautiful and in an excellent chambering. I subscribe to the "only accurate rifles are interesting" train of thought.
Whether you're right handed or left handed is irrelevant when deciding on left handed bolt gun or a right handed bolt gun. What is important is whether you are right eye dominant or left eye dominant. That is the deciding factor.
I've hunted in several different Danner boots. Not specifically the Jackal, but I have used warm and cold weather Danner boots. I've always been pleased with them.
Edit: I did have one pair that I was not happy with the sole. It started to come off after just a month of regular use. I sent...
Welcome AD, unfortunately your pics aren't showing. Are you an Arizonan?
Try again Phil...I was updating them. When I click the links they work. Let me know if they still don't work.
Here are a few trophy's.
My second archery Bull
My Archery Bull
My Son's Rifle bull, taken at 634 yards, one shot with a 30-378 Weatherby. NOTE*** My son was 14 at the time this bull was taken. However, I knew that in the area we were hunting, a LR shot would be necessary. I'm a former...
I've read both. My scope will be in later this week. I plan to mount it both ways and see which seems most appropriate. If there is any way I will hit the quick detach levers while working bolt, I will definitely keep them on the left to avoid that mishap.
Greetings,
I've been frequenting this site for several months now as a guest, but decided it was time to create a profile and join the group.
I was raised in a family of avid hunters. In fact, some of my earliest memories are hunting with my father and grandfather...(I'm 40 now). I was...
Phoenix Phil, it was my understanding that the QD levers were supposed to be mounted as you have them. 1) the levers won't dig into your back & 2) you won't accidentally move the levers while slung against your back.
Am I missing something?
Will do Bob, just mailed the check and FFL paperwork today, so hopefully next week it will be home. I've been looking for a rifle (and pricing them) as described above for several months. It seems that just about everywhere I looked, that model and caliber was on back order. I finally found one...
I'm looking to buy a Winchester M70 Safari Express in .375 H&H. Specifically, I'm looking for an FN model. The barrel stamp will say, "MADE IN USA* BACO INC. MORGAN UTAH" and the rifle will have a black recoil pad. If you have one that has been gently used and you no longer use it, please pm...
