Rigby would like to know your caliber preference(s) for a Highland Stalker model without iron sights

Rigby will thread the barrel for you, no problem. They will also modify the throat in order to utilize heavier bullets in a .275.

Just got engaged (again) now a question

Here’s a recent oopsie where simply hopping out of the bed of my work truck hung my finger on the bed rail.

Just got engaged (again) now a question

I’ve been married 20yrs. In that time I’ve had many close calls with my ring getting hung up on something. We both decided to switch to silicone and our actual wedding rings sit in a jewelry box together. I suppose it’s not for everyone.

Just got engaged (again) now a question

I wear the qalo silicone ring. It’s just the basic black one.

    What’s your hunting bucket list

The only thing on my list is Cape Buffalo. It’s harder to figure out what caliber rifle I want.

    Mauser action question

Thanks y’all. I guess it makes sense to have it milled off if it isn’t needed.

    Mauser action question

What is this cutout near the bolt release on older Mauser actions? My initial thought was for loading rounds from a stripper clip. Then I saw an action that had the cutout but nothing for a stripper clip. Thanks

What are your not-negotiables for a rifle?

@ontariohunter A5’s are my FAVORITE shotgun. New or old doesn’t matter to me. My wife finally tried my sweet sixteen and now I need to buy another one for myself.

What are your not-negotiables for a rifle?

For hunting, my preference is three position safety, two-stage trigger, and CRF.

Dangers and pitfalls of attending SCI

Rigby is my top stop. I’ve marked out a bunch of other stops using that SCI app. The wife is after more hunt’s than me believe it or not.

    Swarovski Z6i not holding zero

I wouldn’t let a scope failure run me away from a brand entirely. Back in ‘06-‘07 we were issued Schmidt & Bender’s that wouldn’t track correctly or their erector spring was non existent. You could turn the turrets and it wouldn’t adjust at all. Since then, I’ve had at least one scope from all...

Thinking of complimenting my collection with a 7mm remington magnum..

I think it’s a good idea but I’m a bit biased. I just purchased a Sauer 100 Classic in 7mmRM and topped it off with a Schmidt & Bender Zenith. Out the door this setup cost $2,572. I wanted a point and shoot rifle out to 500 yards. It’s a 2.6 mil hold over to hit an 8” plate at 500. I can do...

You want to buy something special, you want to treat yourself, what rifle do you buy?

I will likely be putting in an order for a Rigby Big Game in .375 H&H at SCI. I do like the thought of a Mauser 98 Diplomat in 7x57.

    Wounded? Yes or No?

That’s the problem, there isn’t any good argument. Feelings and ballot box biology trump logic and actual science. It’s depressing.

Professional Hunter Norman Crooks in Zimbabwe was gored but is alive...

He sure is lucky, considering the potential. Reminds me of the time my grandpa got gored by bull (bovine) when we were moving cows. Horn entered by knee cap and went straight up his crotch right by his femoral artery. I sure hope he has a full and speedy recovery.

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

My Omega Seamaster 300m has held up incredibly. You don’t see many Swiss watches when working road construction or fighting wildfires. Now I’m a desk jockey and it’s still with me.

Why did you buy a 6.5 Creedmoore?

I purchased a Weatherby Camilla in 6.5 creedmoor for the wife. Several years later it has reliable taken elk with one shot every season. We do have a self imposed distance limit of around 200-250 yards. Last year her 120gr. Barnes TTSX blew through both scapulas at 220yds. dropping the cow...

    New guy

He’s only 11 now so I have plenty of time to plan and put together a list of animals. I have a good friend that went to Africa for his honeymoon and he’s itching to go back. I might just have to join him in the meantime.
