9.3x62 has been enough for everything I have asked of it. I have the utmost confidence in it to ask it much more.
I know it to be a perfect bear cartridge.
My non hunting wife went with me to Khomas Highland Safari’s in June.
As of the end of the trip with Khomas; she is now my hunting wife. She took initiative on her own to take her hunter safety course when we got back. She is planning on hunting her first big game animals here in Wyoming next...
Everyone knows the first custom is only the beginning. I had to work my way to the 9.3x62 after several. I think the grand old .30-06 is a great starting point; after all its not one and done. Lol!
1991 One Ton First Gen. Twelve Valve Cummins. It was the most reliable truck I’ve ever had. Half a million miles when I sold it, and I’ve regretted it ever since.
On day 5 we left the lodge looking for a hartebeest. It was a cool morning so my wife rode up front with Issak, and I rode on the back of the land cruiser with Shorty. Early on in the morning we watched several bunches of warthogs, and some Jackals. Shorty asked if I would shoot a Jackal, and I...
This report is a little delayed. It’s been a busy year, and I hit the ground running as soon as my plane landed back on US soil.
Seeing all of the other great reports about @KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS, and after being allowed to achieve my life long dream; I feel I owe a debt of gratitude...
I appreciate the kind words, especially from someone with your knowledge.
I do agree, I enjoy this little rifle, and had almost put it back in the safe right after I took it out. Unfortunately some things have to go.
I had this put together as a little training rifle.
It started life as a CZ 455 training rifle. I had the tangent sight removed. Then the barrel was polished to 600 grit and rust blued. A Williams shorty ramp was installed, and a Skinner partridge blade in the ramp.
All plastic pieces were...
This got the reaction I assumed it would here. I’m going to go ahead and list this elsewhere.
Any of you AR guys have recommendations of a good place to peddle this rifle? Or would I be better off to part this out?
Thank you much.
You can get some cool images from a different vantage point. My wife took these images with her drone just so we could get several different vantage points of the new corrals we were building below just so we could make sure everything was going in well.
Next time we are in your neck of the...
Hello Gentleman,
I built two of these rifles at the same time. One in 5.56 and this one; a few of you have seen the 5.56 on another thread.
I just got an email my animals are ready to import from Namibia, so this needs a new home.
Build List:
•Aero precision lower
•CMMG lower parts kit...
I guess I depends on the situation. If I’m hunting horseback in grizzly country; I will typically carry a sidearm. If I’m carrying handgun, ammo, knife; I typically wear a heavy 2 1/2 inch leather belt over my chaps, and I throw a set of suspenders on to hold everything up.
For all other...
Overlay and inlay are the easy part. Also try Jim Blair of Glenrock, WY; and also Earnie Marsh. He is hear in Wyoming as well. Earnie will sometimes do a rifle or handgun if you ask hard enough. All three are or have been members of the guild.
There are piles of engravers. Try Jesse Kaufman ( Black Hills Engraving) out of Sturgis, SD for a start. Or just look up engravers for the gunmakers guild.
I’m all moved out of my old leather shop and finally out to the new place. I have to build something that may keep the horses from absconding for a bit. Then I’m going to start sawing up some timber for a new shop. Just need to figure out where to put it, but I like my options.
There ain’t no deny’n, you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a single wide full of AR’s around here. Everybody and their dog has the latest and greatest.
AR's, in fact all black guns do nothing for me. Walnut and blued steel are just too beautiful, particularly in a double. A hybrid wood adorned AR doesn't excite me either. In car parlance don't they call this pimping? ETTO though.
To be fair…. I never did warm up to that rifle no matter what I...
Thank you much! I will try to keep this thread rolling. I’m in the process of building a new saddle shop, and during the warm season I usually just saddle bum around; or product testing is probably preferable.
Today’s work.
Khomas is some of the best money I have ever spent.
Thanks Philip for the best time.
My wife has been a non hunter all of her life, and has even decided to start hunting after our time here.
See you again soon as soon as possible.
