I want this one bad! Unfortunately my wife would put two and two together if $6000 came up missing, and this showed up.

    Ordering a ‘74 Sharps

I agree. I have a friend that had a 75 in a 50 basic. It was a great rifle to shoot. I think the 77s Axtel used to make were the most elegant though.

    Ordering a ‘74 Sharps

I’ve had half a dozen Shilohs over the years. All are great rifles with no problems. I’ve dealt with C Sharps for other things, but have not yet purchased one of their finished rifles. Both are easy companies to deal with. In the 74 I prefer the Shiloh rifles.

    USA: First Fenced Hunt

Is that one of the C sharps produced Hepburns? Or a restored original? Either way awesome rifle! I’m in the process of restoring an 1885 Hepburn in .50-110 express.

What was your best firearm deal?

The best one for me was just a few days ago. I got a special order Remington Hepburn serial number dated to 1885 in a .50-110 express. Picked it up at a garage sale for $300.00.

Ammo pouch, belts and culling belts

I just looked up their site. Looks like the quality is there. Everything appears to be hand stitched. The stitch lines are grooved, marked, and straight. The edges of the leather are straight, even, and beveled. The leather appears to be tight grained and high quality. They have some unique...

Leather work advice need - Elastic cartridge holders

You are both correct in the cost to get in and the learning curve. If I could get ahold of the first dozen or so saddles I made; I would set them all on fire. Luckily I didn’t have a maker’s stamp for quite sometime so none of my first saddles were marked. That said; I would never begrudge...

I am in agreement rookhawk. I am not currently set up to build for the next few months. I have been in contact with Jerome about becoming a site sponsor upon the completion of my new shop. My apologies to the OP. This thread kinda got high jacked. I will make the announcement on my custom leatherwork thread as well, and give updates there. Also if anyone is doing their own leatherwork and gets hung up somewhere; feel free to message me. I can generally help get through it.

Leather work advice need - Elastic cartridge holders

I’m going to build a new website. I let my old saddlery website go years ago, and got enough business off of word of mouth. With this last move and my new shop I’ve decided to take the opportunity to reinvent my leather business, and concentrate on hunting/ safari leather instead of cowboy gear...

I don’t right now. I’m currently building a new leather shop. It’s about 3 months from being finished. After it’s done I plan on building 30 or 40 of those slides right away. I will whip some up for the Lott though.

Leather work advice need - Elastic cartridge holders

I agree. Most elastic is terrible. I too use the same type of elastic I use for horse gear. I have one slide I built around ten years ago that is my daily user. Still has the same elasticity as when it was made. Don’t know if it’s the same stuff, but if it is use it. I get mine in 100 yard rolls...

    boot maintenance

Just look up RM Williams, it’s made in Australia, and they offer some of the best leather products. I used to use their tallow based cream as a base for restoration on some very dry old saddles. Also keep in mind, if you use a wax, paste, or cream based product on elephant it will likely...

I think the only option you have now John; you have to locate and purchase a vintage 6.5x53, 54, 55, or 57. That is the only logical thing to do.
