My 460 Wby worked extremely well. I've written recently that I would opt for a red dot over a magnified optics now after my Cow hunt. Load wise, I am planning to work with the CEB solids for my next Ele encounter.

Had one charge as well. Cow, charged on us unprovoked and stalked us in and out of the bush for over 1km.

Even on buff at 100 yds, I'd leave the optic at 1x, maybe 2x. I have a fixed 2x on the rifle I took my Buff and Ele this past year and will likely be swapping it out for an SRO. Didn't feel as if I needed any more magnification at the distances I wanted to hunt them at.

Zim was the first place the police counted each cartridge and checked its proper headstamp going into country that I've experienced. On the departure, they looked at all the ammunition again, counted the fired cases/brass but didn't ask on 2 missing cases from arrival. Maybe you're correct...

My projects follow similar. Fun, with a specific purpose and intent. Mine rarely leave my ownership, but some get talked out of me by friends who really want it and I take that to fund the next project.
