As long he can put the round where he wants it i would say 180 Gr. should do the trick You could probably getaway with a 165gr if you like a nosler partition or something like that.

It has plenty of Killing power for buffalo, but I know in countries with a .375 minimum caliber requirement the 9.3x74R only has .366 Diameter. So it would not be a legal option for dangerous game in that country. :confused: So it depends on where you want to hunt. Make sure It is a legal...

Yeah I shoot them out of my .300 Rum They are absolutely devistating on Game. Its my prefereed round for my .300. I also like Nosler's accubond in 180gr. The trick though is to find the round that your rifle likes. Good luck

Also about the scopes... I have a vxI,VxII, and VxIII I love all of them. but for the price i really like my VxII the best. I have it on my .300 Rum, Just had a ballistic reticle added to it, the thing is bright crisp and clear to the point that I have a hard time telling it appart from my VxI...

I bought a .300 Remington Ultra magnum when I was 15 way back in 2005. The recoil was a little bit sever for my small frame, but I loved the Caliber, so to solve the problem i had a gunsmith instal a detatchable muzzle break. That solved all of the recoil issues that i had. And you don't notice...

You know i am thinking about using this rifle on deer in kentucky this year since i can't get to Africa for the next few years. Has the scope held up ok to the recoil and dust and what not of your safari's?

Just get a recoil pad. I have this One from Cabela's. That way you don't need to fret about recoil at all.
