    Fallow Deer Pictures

That is very interesting. I have seen smaller versions of that locally but nothing to that extent. Really cool. He has a thick neck on him too - looks like he might have been pretty 'rutty'. This was my best fallow last year - nothing compared to the monsters posted here. There aren't a lot of...

    Eastern Grey Kangaroo Hunting

Hi Ado, I do a bit of roo culling and only use a 223 with 55gr soft points. Some of the big buck roo's do take a few shots to put down at times. If you are shooting a lot of big buck roo's I would lean towards a .243. Cheers, JWB300

    Ruger Guide Gun Review

Thanks Gents, PaulT - I guess my initial attraction to this gun was the practicality aspects. It has all the right fundamentals it's just missing the finish of some higher end rifles. It is certainly acceptable and can be improved relatively easily. WRT the scope - I chose this scope as it...

    Ruger Guide Gun Review

A brief review of my initial thoughts on the Ruger Guide Gun in 375 Ruger. Yet to test it on game but I’ve got some loads sorted now. The rifle is topped off with a Zeiss Duralyt 2-8x42 Illuminated. The guide gun has a 20 inch barrel and comes with open sights and scope rings (bases built...

    Caliber Comparison

Interesting comparison Libertarian. I sometimes find myself over analysing things based upon weight/cost etc and at times it has proved very useful. One comparison I don't care for is cost of ammunition/projectiles. Ultimately ammunition is a very small cost when it come to hunting -...

Solid or Partition Bullets for African Lion

Hey Gizmo, I've just picked up a Guide Gun in 375 Ruger. Not a bad firearm. Mine has proven to be very accurate - I'm runnning 235 and 270grain TSX's. Have you got a scope on yours? If so what have you chosen? Cheers, JWB300

Dangerous Snakes of Southern Africa - Snakes & Snake Bite

Interesting post Brickburn. I hunt and live in area's where there are quite a few snakes. Some of the most venomous and aggressive snakes in the world (eastern brown, death adder, tigers, copperhead etc). I actually accidentally hit a brown snake on Friday in the car on the way to a hunting...

    Your favored airline case?

Another vote for the pelican. Rifle has never lost zero upon arrival. Also has a pressure release valve. It is bulky but due to that size you can fill it with clothes and other goods to make the most out of your excess baggage costs.

    Question for Outfitters and PHs

Thanks Gents, I think I will stick with the standard 2 or 3 legged version. Jerome- it looks like there might already be a string at the bottom of each leg to prevent it over extending. Cheers, JWB300

Bluey, Sorry to hear about your situation. Hunt and Wood are green eyed soap dodgers. I wrote multiple letters to multiple Ministers without response. I'll get back onto them tomorrow. I would touch base with Borsak. He is across this matter. Hope it works out. Cheers, JWB300

Hi There, I've just joined up, as like many, I am looking to hunt in Africa for the first time next year. The site seems to have much to offer and some great people.
