    Boer or Brit?

Both get high marks from an ambiance perspective, so I don't think you can go wrong either way, but I sure like the idea of stalking around the bushveld with that 7x57 and it's 175's, so that rig gets my vote. Regardless of decision, it's a no lose proposition in my book!

I want a new rifle but I don’t know what to get

@62flint - There has been lots of good advice here with a very strong consensus towards the M70 (which would be a superb choice), but don't discount a CZ 550 in 375 H&H, especially if you can find one that has been worked over by AHR or Matrix - I promise you won't be disappointed!

Going to Africa for Buffalo & Warthog

Great pics - take any of those bulls all day long @Aussie hunter! Most of the Europeans in general and the Germans in particular value age above any headgear, which ties into @Green Chile's comments about a real trophy being a gnarly old bull that's been around the block and has evaded...

Going to Africa for Buffalo & Warthog

Congrats @Aussie_Hunter! You're in for a real treat and as @Flipper Dude so aptly stated, a buffalo hunt is, well, all about the hunt! Any properly taken buffalo is a trophy in and of itself. I love the combo of your two rifle battery and the thought of taking an old dugga boy with open...

    350 Magnum Rigby

@PaulB quite the contrary - there is not much this group likes more than viewing a fine fire arm, especially a vintage one in a classic cartridge. Consequently, keep them coming. My curiosity is peaked now, so anxious to see what else you have in store for us!

    350 Magnum Rigby

Man, she's a real beauty!!! Congrats and thanks for sharing your journey. As you so aptly described your quest for such a fine firearm, it is not unlike the quest for a specific animal - it truly is all about the "hunt" and the source of great satisfaction! We will look forward to an encore...

    AR-10 Caliber Question

@375 Ruger Fan - It may have already been mentioned (and apologies if so), but you might want to consider a combo platform of .224 Valkyrie and 6.8 SPC, which provides a ton of flexibility. I've killed everything from yodies to Aoudad/big hogs with that set up, all to great results. Can always...

Is hearing protection needed with a suppressor?

@TOBY458 is spot on in my book. All of my rifles are suppressed with the exception of the medium/big bores. When I'm at the range or under some kind of enclosure with any rifle (suppressed included) I always use hearing protection, just because it is easy and is that "belt and suspenders"...

Great idea for a thread @Altitude sickness; I love seeing everyone’s pups and hearing the stories behind them. Just goes to show we have as diverse tastes in dogs as we do in guns - a great looking group for sure! This is my pup Yopi, a Rhodesian Ridgeback just shy of three years old. She is...

Fantastic story and outcome - congratulations to your daughter! Interestingly enough, daughters seem to be much better listeners and at following directions when they first start hunting than their brothers for some reason, at least in this household, lol!

One caliber away from contentment... who else?

I like what CBH Australia has in his battery - a couple of his favs in the .260 Rem or 7mm-08 would both be worthy of consideration for your contentment rifle, as they will do everything the .243 will and then some. They would still be good choices for your wife and kids and you would have lots...

    Sable taxidermy ideas

Very nice Red Leg! love the blue bull too - is that an Aoudad to his right that we can barely see? Ruger 375 Fan, the funny thing about sable is the bigger they are, the harder it is to make them look natural on the wall - a first world problem for sure. Sound like y'all got some nice ones...

    Gunbroker Advice

AY2626 brings up a great point - not everyone is a crook and there are sometimes legitimate reasons why sellers do certain things and we don't mean to paint everyone with that same broad brush. That said, it pays to be vigilant and as I indicated before, that sixth sense or gut feeling is...

    Gunbroker Advice

Go with your gut -it is almost always correct and it sounds like there are enough redflags that you should stick to one of the routes Bullthrower338 and TTundra have suggested. If he is legit, he won't have a problem with it - if he is resistant, that probably answers your question. The...
