    The Perfect 9.3x62 Safari Rifle

@perdurabo, you could not have chosen a better round for Nilgai than the 9.3x62 and that cartridge, along with 35 Whelen are my two favorites for the Blue Bull of India. The CZ 550 American is my tops for the x62 and I believe it will give you everything you are looking for, including a more...

    Rifle for daughter

Another vote for 7mm-08. My daughter has used hers on mule deer and even elk cows without a single issue. Recoil is mild and definitely lots of versatility with hand loads.

What Have You Killed with the 7x57

This is my 7x57 - it wasn't built for me, but as far as I can tell research indicates it was built by Dennis Tasto, an old time gunmaker here back in the 90's. It has never been across the pond with me, but I have taken some Axis deer here with Lapua factory 11.2g SP's to great results. Just...

    North Fork producer

I'm a huge @North Fork Technologies fan (in a number of different calibers) and have always had the best of luck with their products. I had the good fortune to meet Jorgen and his team at the DSC convention this past January. Jorgen is fine gentleman and it is readily evident they are all...

    Kenya Safari 1927

Great pics and that would be very cool indeed! Have you been able to identify the rifle? It's a bit hard to do from the pics, but maybe you have something in your family history that sheds light on the matter. Thanks for sharing

    First bobcat

It will make a great mount for your home or office - has been cold enough down here to still have a great pelt, although you wouldn't know it based on the weather this past week. lol! Have you thought about how you will have it done?

Age of first African hunting trip

Congrats @Aixenmemphis on taking the plunge - as many have said before me, you won't regret and will already be planning your second trip on the plane ride home. I was 39 on my first trip to Zim with HHK Safaris back in the day, but had been dreaming about hunting in Africa since I was a young...

    Winchester Model 70 375H&H + Tons Of Ammo $2,400

I wholeheartedly agree with @sierraone and @NIGHTHAWK - if you're new to the game, this would provide a very solid foundation and you can't go wrong on this deal. @BearHunter77, did you ever find anything? If not, I would give this careful consideration.

Educate me - original cartridge vs. Ackley Improved?

Thanks for sharing those observations @HuntingGold - I look forward to hearing about the rest of your results. I have a 280AI as well from HCR, but have never tried to handload for it because it is a 3/8" gun with Nosler factory Trophy Grade ammo and their 160 gr Accubonds. It's a killer too...

Educate me - original cartridge vs. Ackley Improved?

@mauserhunter and @AZDAVE - I greatly appreciate the intel and your personal insights! Much for me to learn in this regard, but sounds like I've got some great resources to call on if needed.

Well done Mr. Encino - a great way to pay homage to your surname!

Educate me - original cartridge vs. Ackley Improved?

Conceivably then, a good handloader should be able to make either the parent or the improved cartridge equally accurate (or at least fairly close) out of the same rifle, knowing of course there is going to be a substantial difference in velocities given case capacity.

Educate me - original cartridge vs. Ackley Improved?

Good intel, thanks. Was really not trying to accomplish anything per se, but posing the question in the event one didn't have access to the AI rounds (for whatever reason) and had to go back to the parent cartridge, what would that to do to your accuracy? It sounds to me based on your...

Educate me - original cartridge vs. Ackley Improved?

Thanks @Mekaniks - even though they had different points of impact, was there any significant difference in accuracy between the two?

Educate me - original cartridge vs. Ackley Improved?

I'm not sure the specifics of my question have been covered before (I couldn't find it), but if so, apologies in advance. I know the original cartridge can be shot out of the Ackley Improved version rifle, which is in fact how most of the brass is formed (provided there are no factory offerings...

    Any .350 Rem Mag Fans?

Thought I would throw another 35 in the mix, albeit in a totally different category. Sadly, she has never taken any game in the field (with me anyway) but warms my heart every time I take her out. Used to wish she was a .405, but have grown to love her for who she is, lol!

@sestoppelman, first of all, so glad you are ok - this could have had such a different outcome! Secondly, thank you so much for sharing. You easily could have chosen to keep this to yourself, but instead provided a very valuable lesson for a brand new reloader like me. This literally scares...

    Hunting wild cattle/bovines...

Well said @Tim Blackwell and awesome pics! I am by no means an expert in your class, but found the groups of WB cows with calves to be every bit as wary as any Cape Buffalo I've ever seen, with the younger bulls being more on the curious side. As you stated though, the old bulls are a...
