    Antivenom?

Being a nurse, when I went on my first Africa trip this last June, this was one of the first questions I asked. Are there snakes, how likely am I to get bitten, and how far is the nearest hospital if I get bit. That being said, I didn't see 1 snake the entire trip (thank the Lord!) and we went...

Welcome to the family! I am the previously mentioned wife of @WFet . I see that you mentioned you would be bringing your family with you! It's an excellent family trip idea. I went on my first African hunt with my husband's family this past year and had a blast! As you dream and plan, feel free...

I never thought about the nitrile gloves! I am a nurse, so I have an ENDLESS supply of those at work. And, come to think of it, my hands always sweat when I wear them. I will definitely have to remember to take a handful of those next trip!!

I have recently become aware of these "glomitts". They will be the type of glove that I get if I ever decide to purchase some.

Under Armour ColdGear is well known to me, but I completely forgot about it until now. I used to wear it when I ran track in high school. Good to know about the loose-fitting part, though. It makes complete sense when I think about it.

    Hunting Attire for Women

Unfortunately, when I was in Africa this past June I learned that not all of Africa is warm. We were unexpectedly in the Free State and, being unprepared for the colder climate, I was not adequately dressed. Because of this experience, I am starting to prepare earlier in order to get the best...

I wish I could claim the eye bleach comment, but sadly that was not my genius. Unfortunately, I have bad circulation to my fingers (Raynaud's for the medically inclined), so they go numb when walking at even mild temperatures. I will most DEFINITELY be looking into the Cabela's items y'all...

I may have been accused of attempting to make my first African hunt a fashion show, but I wouldn't be caught DEAD in something like that. Thank goodness I do have a decent amount of self-respect.

    Hunting Attire for Women

Trying not to play this woman card too much, but I just have so many questions! After lots of internet searching and finding few answers, I have decided to use a lifeline and ask the audience. I get cold really easily, particularly my hands, so I am looking for a hunting jacket that will...

I have no intention on taking a planned shot at a range >250 yd. That was one of the reasons I purchased the scope and the caliber I did. I intend to use my rifle for everything from deer hunting to croc hunting and plains game in the future, however.

I have an included CDS dial with my new scope. I have been educated briefly on what it is, but I still have questions. Any advice on the best place to site in my rifle before I send it off to get custom made? I don't know if sighting in at 100yd, 200yd, etc. is ideal before sending that off.

@Hogpatrol ,@WFet only took 1 picture of the targets I shot at (I completely forgot) and it's posted with this picture in the forum. I will be taking the gun back out in a week or so and will be sure to take more pictures of my groupings then!

Ya, we only own 30-.06 and .308 caliber rifles. And no sticks at the moment. Using the sand bags will have to do for the time being! Looks like I’m just going to have to shoot my gun a lot to get used to the recoil. :p:D Darn...

So the rifle is officially sighted in! Well, at least until it gets warmer outside and I have more patience to sit outside and do some more fine tuning. I have looked on the Blaser website, but I haven't had much luck. According to some of the Blaser blogs I found, and can actually read because they're in English, they all just sight them in and shoot them without any detailed cleaning steps. I'm sure somewhere in the middle is the best method...

So what I gather from this. 1) Before I shoot it just clean it for dust and debris and oil it. 2) Shoot 2-3 shots and clean it. 3) Shoot 3-5 shots and clean it again. 4) Continue to clean regularly after a day at the range or firing multiple shots as I see fit based on the copper I can see...

I love all the feedback. I am going today to look at a couple Leupolds. Sadly, we don’t have the biggest budget to work with, so I’m going to have to go with the old, trusty and reliable 3-9x40 or 50 ideally. Hopefully will have some pictures of the mounted scope for y’all by tomorrow.
