I never thought about the nitrile gloves! I am a nurse, so I have an ENDLESS supply of those at work. And, come to think of it, my hands always sweat when I wear them. I will definitely have to remember to take a handful of those next trip!!

@Ridgewalker What do you recommend regarding bullet grain choice? I hear everything from don't use anything over 150gr to the higher the grain the better. Help? :D

I have no intention on taking a planned shot at a range >250 yd. That was one of the reasons I purchased the scope and the caliber I did. I intend to use my rifle for everything from deer hunting to croc hunting and plains game in the future, however.

I have an included CDS dial with my new scope. I have been educated briefly on what it is, but I still have questions. Any advice on the best place to site in my rifle before I send it off to get custom made? I don't know if sighting in at 100yd, 200yd, etc. is ideal before sending that off.

I have looked on the Blaser website, but I haven't had much luck. According to some of the Blaser blogs I found, and can actually read because they're in English, they all just sight them in and shoot them without any detailed cleaning steps. I'm sure somewhere in the middle is the best method...

So what I gather from this. 1) Before I shoot it just clean it for dust and debris and oil it. 2) Shoot 2-3 shots and clean it. 3) Shoot 3-5 shots and clean it again. 4) Continue to clean regularly after a day at the range or firing multiple shots as I see fit based on the copper I can see...

@WAB @bruce moulds @Velo Dog What do you mean by the copper being left in the barrel? And how do you know how much copper is being left behind? I’m guessing the residue left from cleaning? Too many questions. Time for some in-depth research and YouTube searching!!

I have acquired a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40! Not the top of the line, but MORE than sufficient for everything I want to get into in the upcoming years. Can't wait to get mine mounted and out to the range! Hope I have a good a hunt as you did with croc when I get the chance!

We’re probably going to start doing more things like this. Upholstered furniture, using the horns for lamps and other decorations, and things like that. I like how you think @Rob404

@JakeH I agree with you. With me just getting into hunting, I don’t foresee me shooting anything that’s over 300yd away. Whitetail, pig, plains game, etc. I’m just excited to go to the range with my new toy soon!

Being a wife and understanding both sides of the discussion, maybe you could rotate some of your mounts out seasonally or yearly? That way all your trophies get attention and don’t feel neglected?

I love all the feedback. I am going today to look at a couple Leupolds. Sadly, we don’t have the biggest budget to work with, so I’m going to have to go with the old, trusty and reliable 3-9x40 or 50 ideally. Hopefully will have some pictures of the mounted scope for y’all by tomorrow.

I look forward to getting my Blaser out on the range here in the coming weeks/months as the weather warms up a bit. Looking to get my scope for her here in the next few weeks. Can't wait!
