Agreed. As weight is also the largest determining factor in score, its never usually far out charging by weight compared to what it will then score CIC method.

Have a look here on the CIC website for some info - http://www.cicukteb.com/uk-species/index. It depends on species as to whats important - Red deer, Roe deer weight is really important. However, Muntjac and Sika for example its all about length of beams / tines.

Not sure im afraid but if youre going to get taxidermy work done, id do it in the UK. Its not like African species where lots of guys around the world have experience working with them. You want someone who has worked with them a lot, as they are a hard species to get right.

I would just have your guide boil out and bleach the skulls as part of your trip and take them back with you in hold luggage. I also know several people have posted boiled and bleached skulls to the US with no issues as long as theyre not CITIES.

Maybe due to the fact im English but I wouldnt be going to France for Fallow deer. Much better and cheaper opportunities else where in Europe. Which would also worry me if you saw an advert for a cheap hunt...

Yes - I’m from the UK and going on my first buff hunt in Zim this year. I will likely not bring any trophies home - largely due to pending legislation which will make it illegal for me to do so but also the cost factor. I don’t think on balance the cost of getting any work done and shipping it...

A good shoot will 'pace' the day and choose drives with more or less birds in it, depending on how the team of guns are doing. I would be having strong words with a shoot who put 2 big drives over the guns and the bag reached by lunch.

Typically, the guides are very good at guessing the weights and telling you before you shoot, and in my experience if they are wrong and its bigger than thought, you pay for the price the guide said. If its smaller than thought, you pay less. Always worth to ask that question though!

I would also have a think about what type of days shooting you are after. A high bird shoot (birds over 40ft high typically owing to topography) charge for the privilege around £40-55 a bird, whereas you can find lots of good shooting for £25-30 per bird where you will still be presented with...
