Hey Safari1, thanks, it was a great hunt. we saw a lot of elephant and plenty of sign. There were actually elephant harassing the village close to the camp almost daily. There was a big tusker in there according to the villagers who claim to have seen him. but we saw elephant all over the...

Hi there, my apologies...............I honestly just saw this post now. I am pretty sure you have resolved your query long ago, but to answer the question. I sight my double on the right hand barrel, which puts the LH barrel a little off. but at 50m its so small a difference, it doesnt seem to...

ZAMBIA: Zambezi Valley Hunt In Zambia With Shamwari Safaris

My week in the Zambezi Valley was over way too fast. Even if there were times when time stood still, the time passed too fast. This was my second buffalo hunt, however my first hunt in Dande in Zimbabwe unfortunately ended with me not taking a buffalo, even though the experience was amazing. I...

ZAMBIA: Zambezi Valley Hunt In Zambia With Shamwari Safaris

Well, I guess the excitement levels got to the point where I had to share this with everyone. I must start off with apologies for everyone who had trips planned and cancelled because of this Corona rubbish. I do however hope it makes you all even more keen to come when your travel opens up. I...

    425WR Rifle

I found an even better condition ex Tsetse Control rifle in Windhoek. Rifle was apparently built mid 1950's, but man its in great condition for a Game dept. rifle of that age. The guy who owned it was a hunter and 'smithy, so all feeding work had been completed and this beauty arrived late last...

I recently got the bug for a “400” caliber rifle, to fill the “gap” between my .375H&H and my .470NE. You guys know how it is! I wanted something a little more unusual than the de facto std of .416Rigby. (Don’t get me wrong I love that caliber also - and that’s another story) I ended up...

    Krieghoff info needed

So Earle, what was the outcome? You won’t be disappointed with a Krieghoff. The docking mechanism takes a little getting used to for a shotgunner, but is second nature after a few range sessions! I love my .470NE Krieghoff and would recommend one without hesitation.

Luckily no, not a crack, just a character scratch! [emoji16] In Zambia we can’t legally reload, so using factory ammo from LFB out of Germany. They have their own bullets - can’t vouch for them yet, but don’t have a heap of option right now. I would use woodleighs if I could reload for sure...

The game Dept models don’t command too much. So it wasn’t anywhere near the $10k the guys were talking about. Not sure when it will get to hunt again, possibly some PG this year, because I still have a need to use my double on a buff this year. [emoji57]

The rebated rim make it one UGLY cartridge. [emoji16] but that’s half the beauty, as the shape is what allows .416 Rigby (and slightly better) ballistics out of a std ( non magnum) Mauser action! I love the fact that it’s so unusual!

Want To Buy Westley Richards .425

Its probably no damn help to you guys, but I know of two 425WR's for sale in Zim. I don't believe either are "Best" grade rifles, but they are ex Game Dept. Rifles. The one I have looked at was in pretty good condition. These are certainly nothing like the $12-20k that is being talked about...

    .425WR - Thoughts

You can reload in RSA, but not in Zambia where I am living. Zambian gun law is unusually strict on ammunition (quantities you may own, as well as reloading) whilst being relatively soft on actual firearm ownership. For example, you can own a handgun, but then you are only allowed to buy and...

    .425WR - Thoughts

Lol! Never said it was a logical choice! The way I see it, is being a big bore I won’t shoot it too much, so I can order and plan ammo. (I have a few more sensible calibers if I need something in a hurry) but it ticks my box of being a proper classic.
