I'm not an expert in this field, not by any means. I booked a Griz hunt in Yukon and it will be my first experience in Bear hunting. But my idea about, is that in gran part of bear hunting in the upper North, you simply don't know in advance how far your bear will show. I guess an everage shot...

To me, it may also depend by the overall look of your project - if you plan to have a nice "wood & blue" rifle, well, go with the irons. If you're building a syntetic or laminated/utillity tool, I would go with a plain, no frills tube.

Another vote for 300 Winch. I used a lot it with 200gr NP and it was both accurate and super effective. Also easy to find in every store as commercial loads.

I can only add that I have two 90s, and they are superb rifles, flawless, super accurate and dependable. As I'm Italian I can't buy it from you, but I hope this 90 will find home soon. Truly a beauty, is also rare and collectible.

If I were you, I'd like to do my own custom leatherwork by myself. Good leather not too tick, soaked in cold water to make it soft, and you're ok. Needle and line. Sew it, trim it. Done.
