Thank you! Things will go well come hell or high water. The mantra that’s always been instilled in me is: “ When you have to fight, fight like your the third animal in line for Noah’s Ark, and brother, it’s starting to rain.” That is a definite upside, this forum will definitely help pass the...
This post isn’t meant to look for or garner any sympathy, actually as I write this I am full of optimism and excitement. I also want to use this post to express my deep gratitude for this forum and all the wonderful folks on here. On September 9th i’ll be having surgery that I hope will knock...
I have been in contact with Wayne at American Hunting Rifles and I'm going to have it sent to him for the #2 upgrade just to tweak it a little more and ensure reliable function. I really look forward to seeing his work!
I’ve enjoyed reading your posts about your 500 colorado, definitely a strong contributing factor to my owning one! If I didn’t get such a good deal on my Sako, I would have went the cz route for sure. That is a fine shooting rifle and I bet it did a number on that hog!! I can’t wait to take mine...
Thank you for all of the replies and information, it has been most helpful! I have no doubt once I get the firing pin issue straightened out it will be a great gun. I don’t think it will ever outshine my affection for my Sako 85 in 500 Jeff though [emoji2]
I am very pleased with Cz’s customer service so far. I got another email back, the bolt assembly they need to send me is currently on back order, they are putting me on the list to get one as soon as they come in. They are also sending me a firing pin which is currently on stock as they said...
I contacted CZ, they said that the rifle was most likely a display model and that was done to comply with gun show requirements. I guess part of my gripe is with the retailer I purchased it from listed as “factory new.” Cz said they will replace the firing pin assembly, I’m just waiting for a...
Hi all, a few months ago I purchased a brand new cz 550 safari classic in 450 Rigby. Today was my first opportunity to get it out to the range. I load up some hornady DXG shells, take careful aim at 25 yards, squeeze the trigger and click. No bang. I inspect the cartridge after a 30 second wait...
A little bit of an update, I had recently replaced the factory trigger with a Timney and holy cow what a difference that made!! It took the gun from around 1 MOA to easily sub MOA. If I didn’t pull the one round in the picture it would have been under 1/2 MOA at 100 yards! I am beyond pleased...

BenKK I've been seriously considering having a quarter rib put on, I think that may be the route I go. The other options are good and would do just fine I'm sure, I tend to do better with the express style sights. Just a personal preference.
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding possible sight replacements/upgrades for the current production Winchester m70 safari express rifles. I have an m70 in 416 rem mag and I love the rifle dearly, it is very accurate and wears a scope 95% of the time but i was curious if there were any iron...
I like it a lot so far, clear image, crisp reticle, and the 50mm objective gathers a lot of light. The adjustments are positive. It's not the lightest scope but I appreciate the extra weight on this rifle.
Hello all, I just wanted to post a brief range report after my first outing with my Remington 700 American Wilderness Rifle in 300 Ultra Mag. I got this rifle a while ago and when I was debating on buying it I had nagging concerns regarding Remington's quality control as of late. I went out on a...
Hello everyone, I'm looking to sell a brand new in box ruger m77 Hawkeye African in 375 ruger. I got this rifle on a whim but I already have rifles that fill it's role. I don't have the best lighting but the rifle is immaculate. It comes with the removable muzzle brake/weight/thread protector...
I must apologize for falling away from this thread, work has been extremely busy and I have been doing a ton of traveling over the last 6 months. I have been able to get out to shoot the rifle once so far to my dismay haha. I picked up some hornady 500gr solids to practice with. Clearly the...
Congrats on the successful hunt! I have the same rifle and I had some work done to it as well, had some lead added to the buttstock and forend for balance and had a new buttpad installed. The rifle is a hair over 12.5 pounds and it handles like a dream for me. It balances so well for me that I...
I haven't really thought about those but will definitely keep them in mind! Thanks for the suggestion! The rifle appears to have been fired very little since it was made in 2005 so hopefully it will like a range of different bullets.
Thank you everyone! You are exactly right SWARA. I definitely plan on going on safari before I buy any more rifles. I will just have to go on a couple safaris to use the 500 jefferey and double :D
I just picked up my first double today from my ffl, this has been a long time dream of mine second only to my dream of going on safari. I'm sure this won't be my last double either. It has some wear but is still in great overall shape. I apologize for the photos, I don't have the best lighting...
I've decided on the chapuis, from my understanding it was made in 2005 and has not been used hard. It has been on a safari which is interesting. I believe it was regulated with Norma ammo based on the date of mfg. I'm hoping Barnes solids will regulate relatively close. If not I will probably...
I pretty much have my choice narrowed down to a Chapuis 470 and Searcy 500 nitro with a slight edge to the Chapuis. I like the step up in power of the 500 but also see the value and practical aspects of the 470. I'm not particularly recoil sensitive so that doesn't give one an edge over the...
I handled a merkel 470 after work today and it didn't quite fit me as well as I like. It was a little too short for me, I prefer closer to 15" LOP. I think I've narrowed my selection down to either a chapuis 470, and I also came across a great looking searcy in 500 nitro, both well within my...
Very true, I have been working on figuring out all the particulars for gun fit for myself. I tend to prefer a 14.5 l.o.p. I am definitely particular about gun weight, I've never fired a 470 ne before but based on its power level I'd prefer a 10 or 11 pound rifle. I will definitely try to handle...
Hi everyone, after saving my pennies I'm looking to get into my first double rifle which has been a long time dream of mine. I know this very question has been asked hundreds of times already, but I'm kind of stuck on which way to go. I have decided on 470 n.e. and ejectors are really what I...
Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has experience with this relatively new scope? I like the features on the scope from what I've seen. I'm looking to put a 1-4, 5, or 6x scope on my Cz 550 fs in 9.3x62. I really like the circle dot type reticles for fast target acquisition. I've...
@SWARA, that definitely would be a wake up call haha. I haven't done anything with the recoil lug yet but if a problem arises I will probably upgrade it and have a new stock made. I plan on putting it through its paces though and see what happens. Hi boldo, it went very well, I feel it was well...
It's actually given me a great perspective on other dangerous game cartridges haha! True, I didn't decide to get into this rifle based on how tame it is haha. It will definitely take some getting used to but now that I know what to expect, it will be easier next time I shoot it. It's been a long...
I was able to shoot the Sako today, I was shooting some doubletap 525gr loads at 2,400fps. Those were brisk to say the least. I only shot 5 rounds the first outing, this will definitely be one I have to practice with. I also had to sight in my win model 70 in 416 rem mag as well. I never thought...
