I’m looking at red dot sights to fit my Blaser R8 and maybe a future Blaser S2, I’ve found a very nice one piece compact saddle mount that is very low but only comes in a Doctor standard footprint.

It seems that Noblex and doctor are possibly connected. I’m specifically looking at their

NV sight II plus .

Anyone have any experience with their red dots? Typically I would have chosen an RMR but it is not a direct fit and I don’t want to start adding adapter plates. My end use is for driven boar in Europe.

Any input is welcome.

I wonder where they are made. I owned one of their scopes for a while and it was made in china and inspected in Germany before it was sold

I have the Noblex you talking about on my 470 . Flawless and I particularly like the low profile and auto dot brightness in low light. It comes withe on/off cap and bought a second one just incase I loose or misplace one.
My wife has a RMR on her 93 double, it is a " shake awake" type . Its not as low as I would like but works ok and dot brightness has to be pre sett or adjust as you go for light conditions Between the 2 the Noblex win by far

Interesting comments usually the RMR is rated better. Will have to take a look at the Noblex.
They get (RMR) more reviews and more advertising , maybe a thought why the " should" be better. Much like Hornady,( big game ) market the heck out of it and people believe it to be the best

Thanks for the input, I have an RMR on my double 500/416NE, I’m just about to take it on a culling trip to Australia, I like the RMR but find myself ordering 2 Noblex Sight 2 red dots as they will fit the very low saddle mounts that I am sourcing in Europe to fit Blaser R8 or S2. In Europe Doctor was considered the pioneer in red dots and has been very popular there. Now I realize that Doctor is trading as Noblex.

Like you I like the automatic light setting feature and compactness of the Noblex. I’ll post some more details after I have given the sights some use.

I use a Docter 3 red dot on a Blaser R8 in 500 Jeffery. If you are serious about firm cheek weld, the best mount to use is the Henneberger. Nothing mounts a red dot lower than this mount. Cheek weld with a Blaser stock is excellent, perfect for a big kicker.
The Henneberger mount is a very high quality mount and all steel. I use the four foot model on my 500 Jeffery, and my brother uses the two foot model on his 9.3x62 R8. Both have been removed countless times and they have never needed any adjustment, and always return to zero.
I also have a Aimpoint H2, but I prefer the Doctor 3. It is more compact and looks trimmer on a rifle. Aimpoint H2’s always look a bit odd to me and stick up a bit to much for my liking. I also like the auto red dot intensity adjustment on the Doctor 3, which adjusts itself depending on the surrounding light conditions. I only use a red dot size of 3.5 or 4 moa, I just find the dot much quicker to see in bright sunlight. But I guess that’s a personal choice.

Allan,
Thanks for that photo and for your input, this looks like the same mounts I’m purchasing for my R8, current cost is $195 per mount out of Bulgaria, I look forward to adding my Noblex red dot to it to give me the same solution you have on your R8. Like you I have an Aimpoint H2 but prefer these smaller red dot systems. If anyone wants the source for the mount feel free to PM me.

Docter / Noblex are the most commonly used red dot sights in Europe. To my understanding they were the first to popularize red dot reflex sights for driven game hunting. I have two of them. I like them a lot. They have the same mount footprint as the cheaper and less precise Burris Fast Fire sights. I have three of the Burris sights too, the Noblex sights seem to have better controls, better image quality and a crisper red dot. I have not compared with the RMR.
