Which gun system to bring back ?

Paradox is mentioned..a friend has a Westley Richards Explora in 12G.. He had a mold made and he makes 730 grain hollow point lead bullets.. He loads for it and it is most accurate at least to 50 metres..

It is in like new condition, sold by a dealer in Rangoon.. The recoil is quite soft..should be good for wild fowl, boar, asian bear and tiger..
I have an H&H 12 bore Paradox that shoots about 8" at 100 yards with those 730 grain cast lead bullets. The gun may well shoot better than that but my eyes and shooting off sticks with those old iron sights is the limitation;) it does have a 3" chamber at it was reworked and reproofed.

Also have a 10 bore that is not in my hands yet.

I do need to have a bullet mold made for that. Or get some bullets turned for it. If anyone has any leads on how and where to go about that.

Holland and Holland has a pair of barrel blanks in stock for a new 12 bore Paradox. One is in the book to be made as a stock item. However it keeps getting bumped (according to the barrel maker) to allow guns that are under contract to be built. If someone was to order it and put money down, it would get built.

Mannlicher Schoenauer m1910's in 6.5X54 and 9.5X57 (.375 Express) in fitted leather cases off the shelf....

Long round nose solids and accompanying softs in the smaller calibers.... 6.5, 7, .303, 9.3, 9.5, as well as everything up to .600 in the original Kynoch patterns....again, off the shelf....

Do you think a 458 Lott case would fit in there? Or the magazine is too specific size wise?
There is no way it will fit. They are very specific. But if a new model was engineered and sold?....

Hartman & Weiss make a Mauser type action . They will sell actions only if you wish . Ralph Martini in Canada offers a H&W action as an extra on his custom rifles .
He’s one if not the best in Canada. Not many I would trust with higher end rifles.

You're singing my song, but the M1910 was exclusively chambered for 9.5X57 (.375 Nitro Express). The 6.5X54 chambering was limited to the original M1900, 'Greek' military Y1903 and later variants, and M1903 Mannlicher Schoenauer in the pre WW2 period.

@fsrmg1 has a great idea with the Savage 99. It fit in a saddle scabbard for elk hunting, used spitzer bullets, could be taken apart and put in a back pack, had a cocking indicator and a round counter, and was a lever action, but took nicely to a scope as it didn't eject straight up like the 94's. And, it could be chambered in modern cartridges like the 308 and 284 Win.......love the guns, and have killed several bull elk with the model 99 in 300 Savage.....FWB

So true!....I'm learning  I'd take either the 1900 or 1910, but leaning toward the 1910 because I like the 9.5, and saving for one in good condition. But I'd take a 1900 any day as well. I just love them! I had no idea how much until I started looking into them.
Wouldn't mind a good pre-WWI 11.2x72 Schuler either....but one thing at a time....

But don't confuse them!

Mannlicher-Schönauer is Austria and rifles of caliber 11,2x72 Schüler come primarily from Suhl, which is in east Germany much further north and had a completely different concept regarding their rifles.

No confusion, my interest in those peaked when I read on here that the model 34 was mostly sent to Belgian Congo. Interesting cartridge as well. For the last 50 years, all I have known are British designations. Only this year, with the metrics, a new world seems to have opened up, and I have no idea how or why it happened, but I'm liking it.

As a Frenchman, I would also have to advocate for the MAS 36 bolt action. It was also used to built rifles in caliber suitable for Africa, among other for the cartridge 10,75x68. I know this bolt action very well because I completed my training by the French army with a rifle MAS 36. Unfortunately, the action offers no advantages compared to the actions I cited above.

My personal top 5 bolt actions:

1. Mauser 98 standard and Magnum

2. Mannlicher-Schönauer

3. Pattern 1917 Enfield

4. M1903 Springfield

5. Lee Enfield 1903
A very good list . I have number of these :

1. An interim Mauser action 7x57 BRNO vz24;
3 standard Mauser actions on 3 Westley Richards rifles ( 2x425 and a 318);
6 magnum Mauser actions - 375H&H CZ 550 , a Mauser Type A in 404J , a John Rigby 416 and 450 Rigby rimless , and 2x505 Gibbs on GMA and Dumoulin actions

2. In this category a MS 1952 deluxe stutzen in 30/06,

5. And finally 2x 303 Lee Speed Type1 rifles . One retailed by Army & Navy , the other is a BSA.

The Mauser rifles are the pick in any size action

Have you viewed this thread? : Mannlicher Schoenauer

Here is another French rifle with an even older action; the Berthier Model 1892, modified in 1917 and above all intended for the 8mm Lebel cartridge which was also used for hunting in Africa.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
