Trophy Room finally underway

Love the Hound! Congrats on a beautiful space.

@Tintin kudos sir! Your room has the warm of an old hunting lodge and I can hear old hunters telling their tales and sharing their knowledge. Outstanding use of materials. My kind of room! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks gents - appreciate the comments.

@Spearhead - even thought the room is not yet completely finished - the tales with mates have already begun - some of the tales may even be true :ROFLMAO:

@JES Adventures - the hound has settled in well to his 'other home'. He's particularly interested in the pheasant pair that I have about 8 feet off the floor - hopefully that's enough

Love the way your room came out! I am sure your hound is very much at home and might allow others to share the space

Thanks @AZDAVE - and @NIGHTHAWK the hound and I would definately welcome you for a visit if you're down this way.

Thanks! I'll be close in 3 weeks... This will be my second trip to NZ (May 9th to 21st), but have yet to make it to Australia. It's on my list for sure!

Much closer than Reno :ROFLMAO:

What are you chasing in Kiwiland?

Lochinvar Lodge is in a rural setting on the outskirts of Fairlie, a small farming township just 2.5 hours drive from Christchurch on the spectacular inland route to Tekapo, Wanaka and Queenstown, NZ.

I've hunted that region - beautiful country.

A word of warning ... the pies at the Fairlie Bakehouse are highly addictive. :ROFLMAO:

The Venison & Cranberry or Mackenzie Lamb are both good to start with. I can't comment on the vegan option.:ROFLMAO:

One of my hunting buddies gained a new nickname when we were there in '23.

He is now henceforth and forever known as 'Eight Pies'. No doubt much to his chagrin. :ROFLMAO:

With a bit more commitment, he could have tried the entire menu.

In his defence, not all eight were not consumed in one sitting. ;)

This morning's Trophy Room project was finishing framing this old Mauser advertising poster.

Got it from Temu of all places

Came up OK in a frame I knocked up from scrap timber and glass from an old door.

Not bad for $4. ;)

The sheet metal wainscoting is a cool idea. When I opened the ceiling in my little front porch I recycled the tongue and groove paneling the previous owner had painted white. At first I threw it out in the front yard where it spent winter and spring. The thought was to burn it up when weather permitted. But by summer when the project resumed I discovered weathering gave the reverse sides a nice rustic appearance so I used what I could salvage to finish up the gables. Light fixture was yet to be added when this photo was taken.

Barnboard worked out great for our taxidermy showroom. Trophies can be hung anywhere without worrying about holes in the wall. 3/4" dimension lumber will hold even heavy racks. Just in case, everything is backed by sheets of cheap 1/4" plywood. That way the barnboard can be stuck on willy nilly. No need to line up ends with studs, etc. I tore out the existing sheetrock to conserve space.

Love the room and especially the mountain lion full mount!!!

That is exciting! I hope it turns out the way you dream. Please keep us informed along the way!

Looks great.

A very nice pick up for the trophy room yesterday.

A well worn relic full of charm and no doubt party to many adventures over countless seasons.

And it was a freebie!

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
