ZAMBIA: Has Anyone Hunted At Strang Middleton's Ranch?

Curious... is the "ranch" a high fenced operation like in RSA?

Or is it simply called a "ranch" because it is privately owned land?

Curious about the fencing, the ranch operation, etc.
 
I’ve known Strang for years and hunted with him several times. He’s a great outfitter and become a good friend over the years. The ranch is fenced but is absolutely fair chase IMO.

Day 1

The flight on SA Airlink from Nelspruit to Livingstone was more like a charter than a commercial flight. My family made up nearly half of the passengers and clearing Passport control in Livingstone was a breeze with so few passengers. There were no customs officials inside so we few passengers just exited into the airport lobby. I saw Strang he came up and greeted everyone and I said this is the first time I’ve ever entered a country and had no one check my guns.

He said that’s our problem, there’s no customers officials here so we’re going to have to wait for them to arrive to...

I have spent a few days at his ranch and would say the same most the fence that I seen was low fence cattle type. But really didn’t see much fencing i would definitely call it fair chase.
Strange is a good guy and honest outfitter. Also one heck of a fisherman. He has some great ponds on his place with some awesome fishing as well.
Defiantly not like the high fences of South Africa in my opinion.
 
I need to amend my post from 12 April, I have recently communicated with Strang and he is definitely on my short list to hunt with in Zambia. Our attempt at communication was at the height of Covid mania and a lot of things went haywire.
@TakeMeLord , have you made a decision on hunting Zambia yet?
 
Strang is the real deal and a great guy and PH! I hunted his ranch and in the Valley with him, can't go wrong!
 
I think I should be OK to put this....its 12 000 acres with one exterior game fence as required by zambian law to have ownership of animals....been there for 35 years ...the animals live and roam naturally...no put and take...

Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

I have made it to Atlanta this morning, few other outfitters on same flight and our luggage never came trough, looks like mine will go via France to Denver hope it gets there before the ISE show starts on the 8th TOMORROW!



flying to Denver in an hour! is it to early to hit the bar:)
