@Tom Leoni can you explain how the re-regulation works on the X4?
Is it something that an experienced double shooter/loader but novice gun smith could handle?
Ive been interested in purchasing a light 9.3x74r, and the X4 seems to check several boxes.

Thank you,

I have the instructions since I had mine, unfortunately they are in french, but perhaps the pictures could be of assistance.

Here is the translation:

[Left side of page]

Screw 1, screw 2, screw 3.

Regulation of (horizontal) convergence

1: Loosen screw number 1 (key: 1.5mm)
2: Loosen screw number 2 (key: 1.5mm)
3: Work screw number 3 (key: 1.5mm)
- tighten = greater convergence
- loosen = less convergence
(proceed at 1/4 turns maximum each time)

4: Tighten screws numbers 1 and 2 before attempting regulating shot(s)
5: Perform regulating shot(s)
6: If additional regulating is necessary, let barrels cool completely before shooting again (meaning: you can perform steps 1 to 4 even if the barrels are warm, but don't proceed to 5 until they are completely cool)

[Right side of page]

Screws 4, screw 7, screw 6, screw 5

Regulation of (vertical) convergence

1: Loosen the two screws number 4 (key: 0.9mm)
2: Loosen screw number 5 with one turn maximum (key: 2.5mm)
3: Work screw numbers 6 and 7 (key: 1.5mm)
- To lower the point of impact of right barrel (free-floating barrel): tighten first screw number 6, then screw number 7.
- To raise the point of impact of right barrel (free-floating barrel): loosen first screw number 7, then screw number 6.
NB: do not work screws more than 1/4 turn each time

4: Tighten screws number 4 and screw number 5 before attempting regulating shot(s)
5: Perform regulating shot(s)
6: If additional regulating is necessary, let barrels cool completely before shooting again (meaning: you can perform steps 1 to 4 even if the barrels are warm, but don't proceed to 5 until they are completely cool).

I hope this helps. Please let me know if anything is unclear.

Best,

Tom

BTW, the first batch of .450-400 Iphisis have shipped from France. One is going to Gordy & Sons in Houston--the others have not been put on backorder yet.
This is wonderful news and I used to be a Gordy and Sons regular when I lived in TX. BUT am I being unduly nervous about a single point of failure with the ammo? Up until a few years ago, Norma, Kynoch and Hornady made factory 450/500 NE 3" ammunition. Now it's down to just Hornady. If they cease production for find other priorities one has a very expensive display model for their fire place mantle.

Handloading removes that fate. ;)

Yes but many folks do not handled. And also if on a safari it may be too much to expect your PH to have "hand loaded" ammo available should your luggage get delayed/lost. My point being, 14k is a steep investment in a platform that relies on ONE company to produce ammunition for it. But to each his own. I just wish Beretta/Chapuis and chosen 470NE for their next iteration of Iphisi double. Perhaps they will.
